Own A Smart Leather Indian Motorcycle Jacket

Bike riders need proper clothing while they are riding as it is essential for their safety. You can find riding jackets in various material, weight and style. If you are looking for an investment in riding gear go for leather Indian Motorcycle jacket.

Helmets will provide protections for your head but you must also pick protective gear for certain other parts of your body which is vulnerable. Places like knee, ankle, shoulders, knuckles have thin skin covering over the bone which if injured takes long time to heal. Therefore you will need protective covering for these areas too.

You should also think of scenarios in which you might collide and slide along the road, and choose garments that will stay put if you were to get into one of those sliding situations. That means that you should choose a jacket where cuffs are securely fastened. Adjustable fasteners around the midriff will keep your jacket down instead of sliding up your torso.

About the author: Indian motorcycle jackets are not only stylish but provide a degree of protection against the elements when out on the road. If you would like to know more about Indian gear, including Indian motorcycle handlebars follow the hyperlinks.

I was watching Super Bikes and I was Jason Britten wearing a regular jacket that said Kawasaki in the upper chest area w/ their famous green color. Not for gear when riding, but just a regular jacket. I would like to look at some for Yamahas to wear for the colder weather. Where could I go about finding one?

  4. QUESTION:
    What style motorcycle jacket?
    Hi!

I'd like to get a motorcycle jacket for my fiance for Christmas, but I need to get some advice on what style. He rides a Yamaha V-star Classic and I would like to get one that has the body armor in it. I know different types of bikes have different style clothing that go with them, so please let me know what would be a good choice!

    Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
Field crest makes a durable line of Riding coat with built in armor. Have many styles and colors to choose and the price for quality is not bad. Aerostitch Daren jackets are probably the best on the market for all types of riding, but they are proud of there product, and you pay for it. These are tyler-made to order for exact size of the owner for a perfect fit while riding. I suggest to stay away from anything made that says "joe Rocket" and nothing with a mesh (net) lining. If the coat has to have a linner it is probubly too light, and what ever you deside, it must have ajustable venting options to work best in all/most conditions.

  5. QUESTION:
I need to buy my first motorcycle leather jacket...?
I'm 16 at the moment, when i turn 17 in january i will be riding a Yamaha YZF R125. I need advice on what to look for in a leather jacket... is it better to buy a better one second hand or a not so good one new? and other just general advise on them.

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Leather used to be thought the best because it's abrasion resistant when you fall and slide, and also it doesn't flutter in the wind. But these days there are textiles that have the same abrasion resistance, but cost less. Textiles also let more air through so they're not so hot in the Summer. In fact, if you ride mostly in the Summer, you can get a 'mesh' jacket that the air just goes right through like nothing, but it still protects you when you fall.

If there's a big M/C accessories store near you, go there and spend 45 min. or an hour or so trying on jackets. Lean forward and put your arms out to see how they fit in the position you are on the bike. This is one of the things that makes a M/C jacket different from just a regular jacket. Often they have folds in the backs of the shoulders that allow more motion in that direction.

You might save money on a second-hand one if you can find one that fits you and you like it. Otherwise, new jackets come in a wide variety of prices, and a cheap one is just as good protection-wise, and just as warm and comfortable. Jackets are like helmets--they all provide about the same protection, and in the more expensive ones you are paying for luxuries and features.

You should also get a pair of good gloves. When you fall, you instinctively put your hands out to protect you, and they can get really chewed up! Gloves made just for motorcycling are best, of course, but a cheap pair of leather work gloves will work almost as well.

  6. QUESTION:
What is a good brand of motorcycle clothing for road use?
Looking for a good brand of protective clothing for motorcyle use,

I ride a Yamaha TTR enduro type bike so nothing skin tight like for sports bikes.

Looking for a Jacket and pants/trousers.

    • ANSWER:
Aerostitch, Motoport, and BMW (whoever makes their line of clothing) sell some of the best textile street clothing. You do pay for what you get.

If price is an issue, I like First Gear too.

  7. QUESTION:
Do I have to have a certain personality/style to ride a motorcycle?
I don't know what the main stereotypical image of one who rides a motorcycle, but I'm thinking of investing in one purely because I find it enjoyable not to mention that it has great gas mileage. I'm just wondering if I would look weird or out of place. Not really into the leather jackets, and I'm actually a computer engineer. I would most likely be riding in a dress shirt and tie. I'm thinking of a bike that looks like this:
    http://www.dragonflyroadwarrior.com/images/Yamaha_Road_Warrior_80.jpg

Do you think it would make me look like I'm having a early life crisis?
Edit: Haha, I just found the quickest image off of Yahoo! images. That bike does look a little extreme. Something more realisitic to something I would get is http://www.mcnews.com.au/Wallpaper/Yamaha/Warrior/03_Warrior_LHF_1024.jpg.
If the first link is broken, something like this...hopefully this link works: http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/200603/2006-yamaha-road-star-war-2_1600x0w.jpg

    • ANSWER:
Bikers had a bad image in the 1950s and 60s, but then Honda and the other Japanese manufacturers started bringing us smaller, friendlier, less threatening bikes. Their slogan in those days was 'You meet the nicest people on a Honda.' 8^) And I do.

I've been riding for decades and I've stopped and talked with lots of bikers over that time. There is no real stereotype. I've met everything from fast food workers to lawyers. And today bikes are very specialized and there are almost as many kinds of bikes as there are bikers.

There are still lots of guys who buy Harleys for their 'bad boy' image, and get the leather and the tattoos and all that. But they actually only represent a very small segment of the motorcycling community, in fact even of the Harley Davidson community. 99% of the people you will meet are people who want to ride a bike because it's -fun-. Which it certainly is.

You should have a leather jacket, plus gloves (and a helmet of course). You want clothes that have abrasion resistance. Leather used to be best but these days there are textiles that supposedly have the same abrasion resistance.

Also if you're wearing nice pants you want to get a bike with shaft or belt drive. Chains throw oil and you almost unavoidably get it on your pants.

The bike you have pictured is a cruiser. Cruisers are relatively easy to ride because they have a lower seat and lower center of gravity. So it's a good choice. But cruisers are also all about style, and some are very highly styled to look 'custom'. You can buy the same bike in a less extreme style.

  8. QUESTION:
How do you clean the bugs out of my Joe Rocket mesh jacket? It seems to be getting dingy the more I ride?

Also I would like to know what to wear on this trip, thick heavy jacket, light jacket, etc, so any information on this would be very much appreciated.

A Leatherman and a small flashlight are also very handy

  10. QUESTION:
what is a good cheap dual sport motorcycle for starters?
im looking for a dual sport motorcycle 250cc. i need something that is cheap and easy to learn on, good on insurance (yes a dream bike) im turning 16 in august and cant wait to get my first bike. im partialy getting a dual sport because they are easy to learn on but because i live in canada and if im going to have a bik im not letting it sit in the garage for 6-7 months of the year. also if there are any good suggestions for good cheap gear (gloves helmet and jacket) im 16 5 ft 11 and about 180 lbs. im not looking for an extreme bike just something that can handle a some rain and snow and get me from home to school and work. for the bike i am not willing to go over 00.
right now i am considering yamaha xt250, suzuki dr200se (does anyone know if they make a 250? i couldnt seem to find one) yes i fully understand the dangers of riding thats why im only looking at 250cc cuz i dont plan on using highway but i still need a bike i can use for the test which has a highway portion. and are there any suggestions for good motorcycle schools? right now it seems the closest one is at durham college ( i live in pickering ontario)
oh and i know this affects insurance so im male.
bayareart1, i googled it and those are like 30 year old bikes, would it still work good. or am i just googling the wrong thing. btw my mom is convinced its a death trap cuz some dude died at an intersection 2 streets from my house when he got sideswiped by a lady while he was turning left and unfourtunately passed away from the accident :( plus with insurance improbably going to have to save up for another year....r ask my boss for a raise :P and also as for them not being cheap, i see what your saying but i need something that can survive a canadian winter (atleast toronto) and mostly road riding like 80% of the time

    • ANSWER:
You do not want to ride on the street when there is snow! If you dress properly, you can ride a lot more than 7 months a year, but park it when its icy or snowing.

      Honda made a couple of 250`s in 1989-1991 that you still see on trader.ca or KIJIJI.ca that are dependable and fun;

      XR250L (more off road)
NX250 mostly on road but will handle a easy trail, gravel and dirt roads. It has electric start and liquid cooling that made it a better on road bike.

Suzuki has not made a 250 dual purpose for several years.

Yamaha Serow (also called XT225) tends to be really cheap. The later models have electric start, and its just as fast as a 250.

Kawasaki made a KLR250 for years, but recently stopped making it and now has a tall KLX250 dual purpose. All the bikes above except the KLX can be had used for under 00, will be fun on or off road, and are light and easy to learn on. Its good to have a dealer check over a used bike before buying.

Insurance is pretty good on these, but you may pay a lot just based on your age. A newer bike, especially if you have a bank loan, will have higher insurance. A rider training course will help a bit. Before you buy, price insurance from several companies as you may find its a deal breaker and there is a lot of difference between companies. Ask them lots of questions and and see what different coverages save you (a few have on-line quotes, but you are better to call to get accurate prices).

I still found insurance high so I bought a small engined Yamaha DT50 (the bike is not small but the engine is 49cc). It was rated as a moped in Ontario and insurance was under 0 two years ago (without coverage for repairing or replacing the bike). Its really just for around town and as an off road bike, but the point was to be able to afford the larger bikes insurance after two years as keeping it insured counted as two years experience. The right moped or scooter could do the same for insurance, but I wanted a dual purpose and there are not many small bikes big enough for me. The DT50 does 90kmh on the road and works pretty well off road, though I am 200lbs.

  11. QUESTION:
Sister talked me into buying a jacket?
I wanted a weatherproof jacket that was somewhat casual/dressy. My sister rides an 1800cc yamaha roadstar warrior. i.e. HUGE motorcycle. I don't ride or own a motorcycle, but she talked me into buying a polyester harley davidson jacket that suited my needs for the right price..it was surprisingly hard to find a jacket like that in my city and the logo embroidery is more discrete than what most harley davidson products have.(sorry, can't post a link) I'm a big guy and it does look good on me, but the harley davidson stigma dawned on me later. I'm a little more conservative. People will think I'm some pretend biker, if they know me. I think she just coerced me into buying it, to eventually claim it for herself. It cost me 0. I wouldn't want her to have it for that reason. I don't even like harley davidsons that much and would probably own another make before I bought one of those. It's just a good quality weatherproof jacket to me. Do you think I should wear it?

  12. QUESTION:
This is a question for motorcyclists only!?
Hi. I'm a 20 year old female and I'm seriously considering in buying and riding a motorcycle. But I have a couple questions first. I'm 5'2 so I was wondering if my height would be a problem. I also wanted to know what kind of bike would be good for a petite girl like me. Don't tell me to ride a scooter. I want to ride a motorcycle. What brand would you recommend? Yamaha? And also, what gears are absolutely necessary for riding a motorcycle? Can I just wear any type of clothing? Or should I buy a leather jacket? And what do you think the price range would be for the bike? I have absolutely no clue about anything in this category so please help!

    • ANSWER:
Take a course first. In the US, check out the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) course. In Canada, it's the "Gearing Up" course administered by the Canada Safety Council. They provide the bikes, which are all small ones. Taking the course will achieve several things:
      -you will find out whether you actually like riding;
      -you will gain skills which are essential to survival in traffic;
      -you will learn more about what kind of bike will suit you;
-you may get a discount on your first year's insurance.

In order to take the course, you will need a helmet, which you may be able to borrow, if you know someone who already rides. The rest of the gear doesn't need to be motorcycle-specific: You can wear any leather boots which cover the ankles, so long as they aren't high heels; you can buy cheap all-leather work-gloves for or less; you can wear jeans, so long as they are not thin, stone-washed, or have holes; any leather jacket will do, or a heavy jean jacket. Real gear can wait until you're on the road. The course takes place in large parking lots.

      Gear for the road:
Full-face helmet--no other design protects the face, jaw or teeth. Eye protection is a must when riding.
The most versatile jacket is a textile jacket with armour (back, shoulders, elbows) built in, with a removable liner for warmth. Leather offers greater protection, but is oppressive in hot weather.
Motorcycle-specific gloves: Knuckles are pre-curved (imagine the position of your fingers around the handlebar grips)Armour protects the backs of the hands and knuckles. Long gauntlets prevent the wind from blowing up your sleeves.
Boots need slip- and oil-resistant soles. Ankle protection--ankle injuries are among the most common among riders. There should be reinforcement on top where your foot contacts the shift lever. Waterproof leather is available, as well as "synthetic leather".

Bike: Buy used, 5 years old or less. 250cc or less. Don't buy until you have taken a riding course, AND researched what insurance will cost you for the particular year and model of bike you're considering. Insurance cost can be shocking for new riders, and varies widely from broker to broker and depending on the model of bike.

Riding in the real world: A rider must be 100% aware of his/her surroundings. You must assume that you are invisible to all other raod users. The goal is to NEVER be surprised by road conditions or the actions of other vehicles. My motto is, "Every ride is practice for the next ride." Riding requires a 0.00% alcohol lifestyle.

  13. QUESTION:
    First time street bike rider?
I'm 18, 5"11, 136lbs. Have never ridden a motorcycle but have clutch experience in a car. I would like to get a new/used YZF-R6 (I know i know too much power, going to kill myself, dont waste your time typing that) What I'm looking for is a way to get a test ride maybe with someone or maybe some POSITIVE advice that doesn't involve wasting money buying a 50cc bike from 1960 to outride it in a couple of months.

I know Yamaha and other bike companies hold test rides at places but there wont be one for a while in my area so what can I do?

Also any pointers and hints on buying cheap helmets and jackets would be nice.

And one more thing has anyone bought that spine guard (looks like a lifting belt that goes up over the spine with pads and straps over ribcage)?

    • ANSWER:
okay, time for some good advice...

Point 1. most important: Gear saves lives, Not loud pipes...
Get yourself a Good jacket from a reputable company, and a snell approved full face helmet...bare minimum! gloves, boots, and armored pants are a definite plus...a spine guard probably will not be of much benefit for every day riding..

point 2. If you've already decided what bike you want, and you can afford it, go get it...but be prepared, the odds of you at least dropping it a couple of times are very high...keep that in mind...

point 3. Take the MSF course, they will teach you all the basics, and get you ready to ride...from there it's just about practice, and honing your skills.

Take the MSF course before you buy...get your license, then preactice practice practice, and always wear your gear...

  14. QUESTION:
    Safe, comfortable, "stylish" motorcycle clothing?
I want to know where I could find it. I'm 16 and my dad just bought a Yamaha Virago 250 for me to start learning how to ride and I have to start looking for some suitable clothes. Dad doesn't fly on wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
I'm not one to get really huffy about looking stylish but every jacket or boot I try on feels extremely large and bulky. I understand that most of the time it's for safety especially if you're knocked off and skid on the pavement.
I really would like to get some combat boots but i can't seem to find a place to buy any.

    • ANSWER:
Girls that wear protective gear are hot! Get some good boots, gloves and a jacket. Get gear made for females it will fit much better.

One thing that you must care about is that the motorbike leather jacket that you are going to buy should not have a waist line, but if it has such, it will move up too much as you lean over.

If you are willing to buy a motorbike jacket or women's motorcycle vests for yourself then the first thing you should know is the measurements and dimensions of your body. In this way only, you can find the right size for yourself. The ready to wear jackets and vests that are currently available in the market would range from small to large or even extra large. But these ready to wear garment's sizes are for general body types and if you are a special one then you need a special customized wear for sure and these general sizes might not fit you perfectly. So, it is better to have a customized leather wear that is affordable too if you made selections rightly and wisely and as long as you use them with care.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Are there any girls/woman interested in learning to ride sport motorcycles?

    • ANSWER:
That is someting I've been wanting to learn how to do for awhile now. It's one of my recreational goals, I guess.
I just don't know anyone who can teach me or has a bike for me to learn on. Sure wish I did....maybe someday.

  2. QUESTION:
what is a late age for learning to ride motorcycle?
do anyone think its too late for a 59 year old woman to learn to drive motorcycle?

    • ANSWER:
I don't know where you are, but here in Australia we have the Ulysses Club. It is a social club for older motorcyclists. You join at 40 as a junior member, and become a senior member at 50 (I've been a senior member for longer than I care to remember).

We have heaps of learners both at the junior and senior levels. The new riders in the club that I've spoken to, say that learning to ride is the best thing they've done, and it's given a whole new meaning to their lives.

It has also introduced them to many new friends.

My advice is that if you feel that you can do it, then go and do it.
Find a reputable riding school in your area and attend their classes. Get your licence, a suitable bike, some good safety gear and add a whole new dimension to your life. Just please be very careful. Enjoy biking. It's great.

ps, Google the Ulysses Club for some inspiration.

  3. QUESTION:
What is a stylish yet appropriate sports motorcycle for a 5'10 woman just learning to ride?
I am considering buying a sports motorcycle for street riding, not racing. So far I look the look of the Honda CBR bikes, but I have not seen a lot of bikes and have just started looking. I want a motorcycle that is respectable and not "girlie" but not too powerful or hard to handle either. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
SV650 is an excellent idea. Not too big or too heavy, not too much expensive plastic to break if you drop it, insurance shouldn't be bad, and you won't "outgrow" it as you become more skilled.

  4. QUESTION:
what is a good motorcycle for women to learn how to ride on?

    • ANSWER:
In my opinion its really up to the women and her height and size. I am short only 5'2, but I started on a Honda F2 600 cc's. I would recommend The CBR F2, F3 or F4, or the Yamaha FZR 600 or even the Ninja 500. Starting on a bike under 600 cc's like a 250 is good, but if you purchased that bike after you learn how to ride, you will want more power. In all honesty its also up to the rider and their control, a 250 is just as dangerous as a 750 but the higher the cc's the more power you have. Be safe on two wheels

  5. QUESTION:
How to improve upper body strength for motorcycle riding for women?
Me and my girlfriend is learning how to ride on a motorcycle and my guy friends tell me to exercise our upper body. Now what kind of exercises can we do that will help us? And in doing so, we don't want to look like a body builder either, but just to improve our arms and strength when riding.

    • ANSWER:
My bike is 900lbs. I weigh 120lbs. Unless you are planning on picking it up and carrying it you dont need big muscles to ride a bike. Your physical fitness doesnt really factor in. Havent you seen big fat men or women riding? They are not in shape. Do these guy friends ride? If they do Im suprised they are saying this and they are probably riding wrong. I cant imagine really how strength would factor in. If anything your legs are ding most of the work. When you are stopped you are supporting your bike with your legs. and the only time you lift the weight of the bike is when you first get on to lift it up straight. its not hard. Like i said mine is 900 lbs. If you cant do that your bike is too big. Go to a bike store sit on some bikes, have the guys there spot you. try to lift the bikes, rock them gently side to side, make sure feet are flat on the ground. if they are then the bike is not too big. And when i say lift the bike i mean sit and straighten it up

  6. QUESTION:
I am interested in learning to ride a motorcycle and would like to what is the best bike for a woman?

    • ANSWER:
Leave your gender out of it! If you're under 5'5, then you should ask what's a good bike for a shortie. No offense, I'm only 5'3 myself.

Your lack of muscle power doesn't play a part in choosing a bike. Well, except for the really big ones, but you're not going to start on one of those anyway (Gold Wing, Rune, Rocket III, etc.) There are plenty of slender girls powering big machines.

Get something you can reach the ground on. Although if you are short, you can have most bikes lowered without compromising performance or handling.

As a novice, you may want to start with a smaller bike, both in weight, seat height and cc's. But unless you've got a really good lead on a little guy, don't start out so small that you'll be bored with it in a few weeks.

As for which actual bike to get: It's easier to tell you what to avoid! First, it's probably best to avoid a sport bike. Although you could probably start out just fine with a 250 or even a 500 Ninja. Otherwise, I can't recommend a particular model for you without knowing more about what type of riding you want to do and what you want in a bike. Perhaps you don't even know that yet!

Lastly, be sure to take an instructional course. You'll learn to ride safely (on a teeny tiny bike) and you'll know whether you want to pursue this. This is really and truly the ONLY way to learn. Other advantages are discounts on insurance if you've completed a course (for most schools), and a waiver on your road test (you have to pass theirs, but it's not out in live traffic).

Except for Dr. Biker, who I hope is speaking with his tongue firmly in his cheek, you've got tons of good advice here!

  7. QUESTION:
I want to learn how to ride a motorcycle (female)?
I have wanted to learn how to ride a motorcycle almost all my life but my parents always talked about how dangerous it was/is. Obviously, I never learned.

A year ago I started dating a guy who has been riding motorcycle/dirtbike for 11 years. His whole family also rides motorcycles...yes, even his mom. Before his mom sold her old bike my boyfriend took me out to try and teach me how to ride but I had so much fear in me because of my parents. I fell off twice because I was nervous about the gas and the brakes...I stalled it.

What can I do? I'm going to take a course this summer but my fear of getting hurt/crashing scares me so much. So I have some questions I would like to ask anyone out there (WOMEN TOO) about learning how to ride.

How long does the fear last?
How long does it take to get comfortable riding?
What is the best bike I could get for someone my size (5'5)?
    Is it hard to learn?
    and
Anything I should know about/safety tips?

Thank you. I'm asking here instead of asking my boyfriend because I feel he's less likely to understand how scared I am. He'll just say, "you can do it, there is nothing to be afraid of" and that's not what I want to know.

    :)
Thank you to everyone who has answered so far. I really appreciate the feedback. Bikers are some of the nicest and most easy going people I've met. I look forward to being able to ride.

    • ANSWER:
Since you've "crashed" twice, the fear may be there for awhile. My mom took the MSF course, fell over once and hasn't ridden since. Good for you for being willing to keep after your dreams! When you have professional instruction, it is not hard to learn to ride a bike safely.

With an MSF or Harley-Davidson Rider's Edge course, you will start feeling more and more comfortable in about a week. After a month of riding, you'll feel a lot more confident.

The best bike for you is any bike that lets you put both feet flat on the ground. After taking the class, you should be able to ride anything from 250cc to 1,000cc. Motor size isn't really the issue. You need something with a gentle power curve and low seat height--Harley Sportster or Electraglide, but not a Buell (probably too tall). Honda Shadow. Yamaha Star. Suzuki Boulevard or maybe a GS500F (if you can touch the ground). Check out the Ride Like a Pro videos (link below) to see what small framed women can do on a big touring bike (way cool).

      Safety tips?

      * Helmet, jacket, boots, gloves.
      * Learn to look where you are going. By watching the vanishing point (the farthest point you can see down the road), you can visually travel back and forth through time and keep yourself safe.
      * You also need to know that bikes turn by "counter steering." To go right, you turn left and the bike falls into a right hand turn. Really. So, to go right, you can either push forward on the right handlebar, or pull backward with the left handlebar. Most experts will teach you to push with the inside hand. This is okay, but when you apply a lot of brakes or panic, you won't be able to push because both your arms will automatically lock out. So, I believe you are better to think of turning as pulling the bike over with your outside arm. This will teach you to unlock your arms and turn even with you are scared silly. Sound hard? After half an hour out on the road you'll see exactly what I mean.
      * Oh, and I highly recommend a bike with a windshield or fairing--they're just SO much more comfortable.

Recently my wife road my Suzuki Burgman 650 into school. Everyone had a blast teasing her and asking her how cool it was to ride a bike. She took the MSF course and passed her riding test with a 1200 touring bike. You can do this.

Keep your eyes up and stay safe.

  8. QUESTION:
    Can a 120-lb woman ride a 1200cc motorcycle?
I'm taking a motorcycle safety course in a few weeks and learning how to ride a bike. That said, the motorcycle I'll be assuming is a 1200cc Harley Davidson (sorry, not positive on the specs).

I'm a 5'8, 120-lb female in my mid 20s. I'm a little worried the bike might be too heavy. Are there any weight limits I should worry about? Will I be able to maneuver the bike alright?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
You should be fine. HDs have a low center of gravity and modest performance. Except for their weight and the fact that repairs can be expensive, Harleys are easy to ride and perfect for new riders, including women. The Motor Company has made a mint by cultivating an image and tailoring its products to the lowest common denominator.

  9. QUESTION:
    Motorcycles for Women?
I want to learn how to ride a motorcycle but I was told to buy a scooter first. Is that a good idea or a waste of money? What type of motorcycle should I get for a beginner? Is it true that you have to be physically strong to be able to ride?

    • ANSWER:
scooter? definitely a waste of money!

yes, you do have to be physically strong...that is, if you want to race!

I suggest you start with a Kawasaki Ninja or Suzuki...Honda's are meant for track as so are Yamaha's... Harley Davidson's are great motorcycles, yet a bit heavy...

Women can do it just as well as any man out there!..
      Woman just RIDE! =D weeeeee

(*note: you can always go to a driving/racing school to fully have better control with your bike and become more skillful during rainy days and curves on the roads =)

  10. QUESTION:

  11. QUESTION:
How do you feel about women riding?
2 years ago I got my motorcycle learners permit.Last May after I passed the Motorcycle Safety class and getting my endorsement my boyfriend gave me a 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster 883. He won't let me go out alone. He says women don't ride alone. Now granted it's my bike in his name and his insurance and it's about 250 pounds heavier than the Honda Rebel I learned on, so I understand him wanting to be with me while on it, but he doesn't feel I should get my own eventually and ride by myself. How does everyone else feel on that.
Thank you all for the great answers. He bought me the bike as a gift knowing I can't afford one at this time. I believe most of you are right and your answers help me see all views, He cares about me, and he is concerned, and he worries and it is a bit of a chavanistic thing too.

    • ANSWER:
I taught the old lady to ride about 6 years ago. Started her on a Honda-sportster-a big twin. I have since built her 90 FXR into a trophy winning show bike .She is free to ride by herself if she wants, but I am more comfortable when I'm with her. 2 main reasons#1 I am the one who esentially put her on a bike so am I not responsible to a large degree if something happens, and #2 If there were a problem of some kind I'd want to be there to assist.

  13. QUESTION:
    Motorcycles for short women?
Hey everyone! I'm a short woman (only 4'11), but have had an affection for riding for quite some time...I just haven't ever had a bike of my own (riding b**** is fine, lol, but I would like a bike of my own). Can anyone suggest a good bike for a beginner (since I've never ridden alone) that would work with my height? Nothing heavy, though...not only am I short, I'm small in general...not sure I could handle a heavy bike. (And yes, I'm taking classes to learn to ride properly)

    Thanks in advance, everyone!

    • ANSWER:
It is probably best you stay with a lighter bike (<700 cc) and preferably under 500cc until you learn the feel of a bike on the street. Some of the suggestions above are very good. Ultimately, you'll want to sit on it. I'd look for a used bike though since it is likely you might drop your first one. Scuffing a more expensive bike is nerve racking. Older Honda Nighthawks are around and usually pretty reliable for a used bike. Craigslist and your local newspaper are good place to see ads.

Always wear a helmet, even if your state doesn't require it. Happy riding!

  14. QUESTION:
What do you men think of women riding a bike?
I just want some opinions on if it is sexy or butch when a woman is driving a motorcycle. I just bought a ninja 600 ZX6R and I have been learning how to ride it which I was really really nervous about. My brother says I look funny on it and he keeps making stupid jokes. I personally think he is just jealous cuz his wife wont let him even touch it.
So I come to all you here on YA ppl.
Does a woman look good driving a motorcycle or does it look butchy?

    Thanks in advance
I was just wondering, thats all. Even if some one said I looked butchy, I would still ride it. My brothers wife wont let him on it cuz its considered a race bike. I bought it cuz its the easiest bike to learn on and its short enough for me to touch the ground with my feet so I can stand up with it.
Thats me in the pic BTW
    Thanks again

    • ANSWER:
Just ride, ok ? how others perceive it is completely irrelevant and should not be the basis of your decision to ride or not.

Whether a woman looks sexy or butchy on a motorcycle is up to her. Most just look like regular women....

My oldest daughter rides a Yamaha XJ600 and as far as I'm concerned she looks exactly like what she is: a college student.

As for your brother, he's a child who needs his mommy to decide what toys he's allowed to have and his opinion is defacto irrelevant. Seriously, his wife gets to decide whether or not he can have a bike ?!? If you had said that they had discussed the familly budget and concluded that they cannot afford one that would be one thing, but that she gets to decide unilaterally is a completely different thing. I have a friend in the same situation and even my wife hates his bossy wife.

  15. QUESTION:
Women Motorcycle Riders who started riding with little or no experience....Did you find it difficult to learn?

    • ANSWER:
The most difficult thing for me to master was controlling the clutch to get the bike to start moving in first gear. Not too much unlike getting a manual transmission car going until you get used to it. Took me about 3 days of practice (in a parking area) to get that down. Then I rode around on neighborhood streets for a while before taking to main roads. I took the MSF class as well but was glad I had a little experience first. Then I slowly increased the miles I would go and added in highway riding. After all that, it's just about confidence in your abilities and your bike.

  16. QUESTION:
what is a good size motorcycle for a woman who is 5' tall?
i am wanting to learn to ride a motorcycle. i am 5' tall. and i have never rode by myself before. i am anxious to learn. i am going to take a safety training course and they use honda rebel 250's.
any help will be appreciated. thank you.

    • ANSWER:
See if you like the honda rebel in your class. You can pick up a used one real cheap after your course, if you like it. I own a yamaha virago 250. It is very similar to the honda rebel (I just like the looks better). These bikes are very low to the ground. There are other bikes on the market that cater to short-statured persons. The buell blast 500cc, another "starter" bike offers two seats heights to accomodate shorter person. There are a few middle class cruisers made with low seat heights by suzuki, honda, harley and kawasaki alike. I'd recommend starting with the 250cc, then go sit on a few in the dealership when you "outgrow" the 250.
      note:
I started with a 750cc Kawasaki vulcan. Big mistake: you see I own a 250cc virago now. My motorcycle buds convinced me that a 750 cc would be ok as long as I could touch the ground with my feet. I am learning more and gaining more confidence on my 250cc than I ever did on the 750cc. Yes, I will use it and dicard it. Think of your 250cc as when you learn to ride a bicycle: would you have started on a 10 speed. Well, good luck and ride safe.

  17. QUESTION:
    Motorcycle armor for women?
I'm just learning to ride, so I'm shopping around for my first riding gear. I'm noticing something I really do not like - mens' jackets and other gear are WAY more protective than the stuff made for women! I can not find a ladies jacket that offers nearly as much protection as the mens jackets. Not to mention gloves and armored pants. I'm 5'5" and 128lbs, curvy, so I really do need the cut of the ladies stuff. (And not just for looks - when your leathers fit properly you are better protected.) What is the problem? How come nothing appropriate is made for female riders? Do they think girls are just passengers? Even so, the passenger needs the same protection as the driver because in a crash the passenger will go flying just as far. So does anyone out there know where I can find the best protection in female motorcycle outfitting? I want all the same impact areas, plates, protection, etc, that can be found in a mens outfit, just made to fit me properly. There's got to be some company that makes an appropriate product - maybe I just have not found it yet, so please help, and thank you very much!

      2) Maybe he worries about your driving

      3) Garage space

      4) He dosn't want a buddy, he wants a chick. As women age they lose thier girlishness and become more masculine, maybe he is not crazy about this added nail in the coffin of his blushing bride's youth.

  19. QUESTION:
    Street Bikes for women...?
I'm going to take a course to learn how to ride a motorcycle. I'm a 5'6 130lb female. I honestly have no clue what kind of bike to get, I just want to get some opinions.. What's the best beginner bike or what is recommended?
I was looking towards a sport bike instead of a cruiser. Thanks though..

    • ANSWER:
The Kawasaki 250R Ninja, affectionately known as the Baby Ninja or Ninjette, is an excellent beginner bike. The 2007 and earlier bikes are a little shorter and lighter than the bloated 2008+ bikes. It is capable of out accelerating most cars, and can hit 100 mph on the freeway. Unless you have a desire for excessive speed it is all you will ever really need.

  20. QUESTION:
What do you think about this Survivor of Socialism Has Warning for America?
The South Dakota Family Policy Council sponsored a speech tonight at First Assembly of God in Rapid City by Kitty Werthmann of Eagle Forum in South Dakota.

The presentation was entitled “Socialism vs Freedom” and was a part of the SDFPC “Heritage Under Attack” series.

Werthmann is the head of the South Dakota chapter of Eagle Forum, and was born in Austria. Werthmann lived for seven years under the Nazi rule of Austria, eventually coming to the United States in 1950 to become a naturalized citizen in 1962.

She said conditions in 1930’s Austria were very difficult. Unemployment was high, food was short, and many businesses were going bankrupt.

Austrians were looking to Germany where they saw prosperity and law and order, while they had near anarchy in their own country. With only a border between them, speaking the same language and having a similar culture, they believed the promise of prosperity from Adolf Hitler. Politically in their country, on one side was the National Socialist Party (Nazi) and the other was the Communist Party.

The communists were growing stronger as a party because of their promises, as well. When the country had to decide between Nazis and Communists, most of the people came to the realization they were a country with a Christian background and could not bring themselves to vote for the atheistic communists. Austria voted the Nazi Party in to power.

Once the Nazis took control, the people no longer voted for government positions anymore; all positions down to the local level were filled by appointment.

In the interest of a supposedly more efficient government, the Nazis decided to centralize all government between Germany and Austria.

Hitler nationalized (socialized) the banks, health care, automobile production, education, and more.

Werthmann said they had prayer in school and religious instruction, but “this all stopped overnight” once the Nazis took over. Instead of praying, they started singing praise songs about the state.

Children were instructed to report to state education on Sunday morning instead of church. If parents failed to comply with this political education on Sunday, they received a stern warning first, followed by a stiff fine for a second offense.

Children were told to listen only to Hitler and not to listen to their parents. The children were allowed to play sports after political education and the boys could do things like ride motorcycles and learn to fly gliders. This resulted in the children enjoying this time, and if their parents didn’t like it, the children would argue with their parents because the state had told them they had many rights beyond what their parents allowed them.

Werthmann said her mother eventually took her out of the public school system and enrolled her in a private school. She said at the time she almost hated her mother for doing this, but her mother told her that she hoped someday she would understand. Werthmann said now she thanked her mother 1,000 times over for doing this.

Werthmann said Hitler expanded “equal rights” for women, which resulted in far more women going out into the work force. The government created state-run child care and began molding the minds of children at a very young age.

Austria had private health care prior to the Nazis, and the quality was good. But the government took over the health care system, and when health care became “free” the doctors quickly became overloaded by frivolous use of the system. Surgeries of a more important nature, however, had waiting lists of about 18 months because of all the “hypochondriacs” abusing the system.

Werthmann said that if a doctor prescribed a medicine not on the government-approved list, the government would take the cost of the medicine out of the doctor’s salary.

Welfare became a “huge apparatus,” said Werthmann. Everyone had access to subsidized housing, food stamps, heating subsidies and many other benefits until everyone–regardless of salary–reached the prescribed standard of living.

“That’s called socialism,” she said. Werthmann cited the exchange between Joe the Plumber and Presidential Candidate Obama about “spreading the wealth” as a sign that it’s already begun here.

They also had what was called the “Planning Agency.” This dealt primarily with the agricultural system, telling farmers what they had to plant and how much of it they must plant. Livestock could not be butchered for the farmer and his family; everything had to be accounted for and turned over to the state.

Abortion was illegal under Hitler’s regime because Hitler wanted a lot of children to fuel the economic engine of his state. But if a child was conceived of a union that was not considered racially pure Aryans, they were selected to have an abortion.

Austria also had euthanasia. She said that when she was doing student teaching in the Alps, she went to a village where there were a number of residents who were mentally handicapped

    • ANSWER:
The newest conservative lie--that the Nazis were socialist.

The Nazis were fascist--the polar opposite of socialism.

I, on the other, really did live in a socialist state (the UK in the seventies), and you know what? It was pretty darned good.

  21. QUESTION:
What type of Harley Davidson motorcycle is a good choice for a small woman?
I am a petite (115 lbs, 5'2) female who recently learned to ride. I know that the Sportsters are recommended for women, but I really like the Softails (the Deluxe in particular). Is that going to be too big for me?? Are there other choices that might be a good fit?? I am just trying to figure some of this out before going to the dealership.

    • ANSWER:
The Deluxe is an awesome bike and one of the lowest models Harley makes. It will be heavier than the 883, but is so much nicer and rides far better. I had a 2007 model for a while that I traded for an '09 Street Glide. Wish I would have kept the Deluxe. Love that bike!!You may need a more narrow seat to help you touch the ground better though. The stock triangle bike seat is pretty wide. Maybe something like a Sundowner would work better but the guys at the shop can help you with that.

  22. QUESTION:
What is on your "Bucket List"?
Is there something you want to do/learn? Someone you want to meet? A place you'd like to visit/see?

    Things I want to do/learn:
    * Get my diving certification and swim with whales
    * Skydiving
    * Bungee jumping

@ Billet: Your #13 -- Where are you going? :)
    @ Lyra: It might...ha

@ Billet: Ohhh California! That's awesome! I've only been there once, but it was in the middle of winter and we were in the mountains. I hope it's warmer where you're going!

My goodness, I am super late answering this. I seem to be doing that a lot lately. Well, great question, anyway.

He drives a porsche, he rides a motorcycle also, just learned to fly airplanes, he is a recovered alcoholic and heroine abuser. He's completely clean now for 3 years. Kind of moody, always cheats on women, haha big time! Speaks french, and he loves to go down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Baja, Mexico (both) and surf. He surfs alot for fun. Fear of commitment, but as skinny as he is he is still pretty intimidating. He also hates parties (he thinks their lame). He owns a night club, and thinks money will buy anything. 25. QUESTION:
    Should I or shouldn't I ? Please Help!?
Ok, I'm engaged. I love my girlfriend and we have been together for almost 5 years! This really hot wonderful woman I work with just recently got a divorce. I've liked her since I met her 10 years ago! We get along really well! Here's the problem: The woman I work with wants me to teach her how to ride a motorcycle. So, should I being I like her so much? I told the woman maybe I would call her and take her for a ride before she buys a bike and kills herself! She was all for it! he has always talked about motorcycles and I'm guessing she just wants to learn how to ride as she is not from this area and knows pretty much just the people she works with. My girlfriend more than knows how hot I think this woman is! If I take this woman for a ride on my motorcycle I know I will feel guilty for not telling my girlfriend! Should I get my girlfriend's permission so I don't feel guilty? Or should I just take her for a ride and see what happens? Or should I tell this woman I better not as my girlfriend will kill me! I'm kind of scared! That's how much I like this woman! We have never socialized outside of work! Thanks!
Roxi, Thanks! No offense taken! I've liked this hot woman now for 10 years! She was married and I thought she would be forever! She recently got a divorce. I do love my fiance'. And I have never even touched this woman. Like I stated, we have never socialized outside of work. Although, her and I have so much in common and we get along so well it's scary!
As someone had said, I don't even know this woman's intentions. She probably just wants to be friends! How come I can never be friends with hot women I like? Just the ugly ones! lol Sorry women!
Thanks bdubya! Exactly what I wanted to hear! You prick! lol jk, thanks!
So....... what do I tell this hot woman now? I can't take her for a ride or teach her how to ride because she's way too hot and I like her wayyyy too much? lol

    • ANSWER:
Not trying to sound like a prick but grow up...you sound like a high schooler. You obviously think alot of your girlfriend otherwise you wouldn't have been with her this long nor would you have proposed to her. You are assuming this woman asked you to teach her to ride a bike bc she is interested in you but *cold shower here* she never thought enough of you to hang out with you outside of work so I'm guessing HER intentions are innocent. Your's don't seem to be as innocent as you are already basically contemplating ending your five year relationship bc of what you THINK she means.

That being said, given your infatuation with this woman, I strongly advise you NOT to take her up on her offer because you are totally turning an innocent request into something way more that it probably is and you're going to lose a girl that loves you enough to marry you.

  26. QUESTION:
    Women's first motorcycle?
I have a gsxr 1000 and a gsxr 600. The 1000 is an 04 and that is what I ride normally. I saved the 600 since it was what I learned on and modified. The 600 is a 2000 with a stage 3 jet kit, k&n pods and full yushomaro exhaust on it. It is very quick and I am nervous letting her ride to learn on. She has rode 4 wheelers before, but they do not do 60 in first gear. The bike is in perfect condition. I even had some powder coating done along with polishing to make the bike look great. If she puts it down it will cost a lot to fix the fairings. Plus normally when these bikes go down the tail is destroyed. So undertail kit would go bye bye too. Is this too much bike for a woman's first bike?

    • ANSWER:
Where is it written that you HAVE TO lend her one of your bikes to learn on? Let her go buy her own. Get one of those older twin cylinder 400/450/500 bikes. you know the CM, 400/450, the XS400, the Vulcan 454 or 500 etc. They should cost around $ 1000-1200 all day long in decent running shape. The turnsignals is about the only thing that is gonna get damaged when she drops it. The bike should last her for 2 yrs until she wants to move up to something else.

  27. QUESTION:
    Do men like this??
Do men find it attractive if a woman is adventurous??
For instance i am an 18 year old girl and I Rock climb, Horse ride, I have been teaching myself how to fight and box, Someday i would like to learn how to fire a gun (not sure why but i have always wanted to learn), I am also learning to ride a motorcycle too, i like to be adventurous and have fun but i also love to be girly at times for instance i do wear make-up and stuff but i am not one of these girls who lvoe to pile on the fake tan to look orange and i don't feel the need to wear make-up everyday or everytime i leave the house.
I am just curious do men find it attractive in a woman when she is daring or adventurous and does activities such as the ones i do??
Well to be totally honest i so not take part in any activities or do anything such as the things i have mentioned...to impress anyone or to to too hard to find a man, i have been single for a while and to be honest i'm loving it and i am in no rush to find a man, for the past 18 years of my life i have been 100% myself and i don't intent to change for anyone, just incase anyone else though i may be trying to hard to be found attractive.

And to the person who asked if i had a pic, here ya go, this is me:

  28. QUESTION:
What model motorcycle is low-cost and ideal for a small woman?
Recently I got the urge to buy/learn to ride a motorcycle. However I’m rather stuck because I don’t know much about the whole genre and there are only so many hours in the day to research the things I need to know. Here’s the specifics:
    -

    I’m female, 5’ 3” and about 114 lbs.

Looking for a NEW bike (as in new off the lot, not pre-owned, so like a late 2008 to new 2009 model)

I’m looking to spend about 00 or less if I can help it.

The primary function would be normal street riding (I wont be racing or doing off road stunts- obviously).

    -
So my problem here is I need a few models to check out- does anyone know of several good/decent bikes that cost approx 4k new, that suits a short skinny woman?

(I can bump the price up to about 5k if my current asking price is too restricting in options.)
To explain my desire for a NEW bike vs used- a lot of people say buy a used one to learn on, then sell it and buy a new later- but I dont want to go through the hassle of selling the used bike then spending *more* money for a new one. I would rather treat this machine with care and respect off the bat and keep it till it dies.

    • ANSWER:
5'3", female, guessing a 28" inseam, you should be good to go on most anything with a seat height of 28" or less.

Kawasaki Eliminator 125. ,799 MSRP. 26.8" seat height, 320 pounds wet (ready to ride.) 125cc single cylinder. Negative: top speed about 50-60 mph, not freeway legal. Positive: cheapest, best mpg, great city bike.

Suzuki GZ250, ,799 MSRP, 27.8" seat, 331 pounds. 250cc single. Freeway legal. Plus: Leatherlyke saddlebags available for 0 (look like leather, is really lockable hard cases -- I really like my LeatherLyke saddlebags.)

Honda Rebel, ,399 MSRP, 26.6" seat, 331 pounds. 250cc parallel twin. Cheapest Freeway legal.

Yamaha V Star 250, #3,790 MSRP, 27" seat, 324 pounds. 250cc V-twin. A hair longer in the seating, the V-twin makes it look bigger than it is. (The LeatherLyke saddlebags are also available for this one.)

All of the above would do great on local streets and the 250's would be fun on 2-lane roads cruising along at 45-55 mph. All would give over 60 mpg, pushing 80 mpg on that 2-lane cruise.

Stepping up in size, pushing your budget, but IMHO just about the best motorcycle available.:

Suzuki Boulevard S40, AKA Savage. ,899 MSRP (up from ,399 in '08) 27.6" seat height, 381 pounds wet. This is the Big Single, the Thumper, 652cc; putting out a mere 30-33 hp so it will not be scary fast. Indeed, top speed is about 85 mph; which makes it capable of running the superslab (AKA Interstate highways) at 75 mph but you are not going to be blasting past everyone in triple digit speeds.

The aforementioned TU250 and 250R are options if you want a Not-A-Cruiser, the Suzi being a standard, and the Ninja being a sort of sport bike. The Suzi is new for '09 but uses tried and true technology and should be a great bike. The Baby Ninja is the fastest of the lot, capable of 100 mph. The messed up the Ninja in '08, making it taller, heavier, and upping the MSRP by ,000; probably not suitable any more for vertically challenged individuals.

For what it is worth, I agree with your figuring out what you want and getting and keeping a new bike. These are roughly the bikes I was looking at four+ years ago, got my Savage used as the dealers didn't have any. Still have it, ride it every day to work, shopping, and have even taken it on a 2,500 mile tour.

  29. QUESTION:
At what age do women usually start using their smoke detectors?
At what age do women usually start using their smoke detectors thoroughly? Last week, I asked on Answerology whether or not I was too nice or too honest. I'm not the bad boy with a criminal record a mile-long, enough body piercings to set off the metal detectors, and a tattoo that says "Born to Lose" across my chest. I don't walk around wearing tanktops so everyone can smell my armpits, nor do I ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle for I know they don't add inches to your junk. I'm a clean-cut nice guy with an education and ambition. I'm also a veteran from the United States Coast Guard. That said, I'm neither clingy nor spineless, and I know how to take care of myself and handle business when needed.

I've lost count of all the women I've heard saying there are no quality men out there, when they think the bad boys are the right ones. That's the paradox that kills me every time. I have a mild form of autism known as Asperger's Syndrome, but even I know 90-percent of those bad boys out there are all talk and no show. I'm well aware the vast majority of them are cowards, and that whole facade is nothing but a false pretense. When I worked at Home Depot and Lowe's while I was in college, several female customers would complain to my manager because they were afraid of me. This seemed strange because I hardly ever speak. I don't know why they were terrified of me, but they were madly in love with the bad boys when it should've been the other way around. I'm the guy who wound up staying home every Friday Night with his cat, Gracie. Yes, my four-legged princess is the purrrr-fect companion. :-)

My brother-in-law is a the classic example of a bad boy. I call guys like him peacocks because they're loud, boisterous, and cocky. However, he's a coward underneath it all. The man is clinically paranoid, and he's a total jerk. My older sister is 40 years old now, and she still has a hard time getting it through her thick head what a dirtbag he is. She never learned her lesson from her last hubby who was a conceited egotistical musician that cared about nobody but himself. Her ex was about as superficial as it gets. Unfortunately, I've seen this happen too many times. It seems lots of women like my sister seem to think their magic vaginas will transform all the bad boys into Prince Charmings like in Beauty in the Beast.

Here's my question. At what age does female intuition finally manifest itself and then they start using their smoke detectors? Does it happen after they've learned the hard way about bad boys? Does it occur after they drop out a couple of kids and realize less men will want to date them when they become single mothers? Does it happen when they turn into basket cases after they've had their hearts broken enough times to finally get the message? Or does it happen when they get old and wrinkled and certain features of theirs start sagging? Help me understand how a man with Asperger's can figure all this out, but my sister doesn't when women are naturally better at reading people than men. I'm not trying to be mean; I really do want to know.

    • ANSWER:
Magic vaginas! LMAO! Oh, my internet son what am I to do with you? You truly call them like you see them.I think a woman with a good sense of self esteem has no problem at any age using her smoke detector. As for your colorful description why is it some guys feel some women have what you described? take my brother in law for instance. Great guy, like a big teddy bear who would give you the shirt off his back and what does he do? Goes out on a date with a chick, and three days later moves her in and takes part financial responsibility for her. Ask me if my head wasn't spinning around on my shoulders. I neither like this person nor do I approve of how fast it is going. the only thing to come out of it is my bil getting hurt and screwed over and who will have to help pick up the pieces? Me and his twin brother of course as always. Not this time he's on his own. time for tough love.I understand what your saying 100% just don't forget that it goes both ways a lot of guys relocate their brains to their pants, my bil is a perfect example.

  30. QUESTION:
What's the best motorcycle for an older woman to buy, who's inexperienced riding, but would like to learn?

    • ANSWER:
It depends on what type of riding you want to do. As a minimum, get an engine with at least 1 cc per pound of your body weight. Double this if you plan to ride much on highways. Triple this if you only plan to ride on highways.

Enduros are street-legal, but really made for the dirt. A small enduro is forgiving of mistakes when you are learning and, while you're learning, can be ridden in relative safety in the boondocks where you don't have to worry about getting run over by cars.

A sportster is not well suited for off-road use, but lighter and easier to handle than a full highway bike. It has the power and handling to deal with city traffic and highways, but is not as comfortable (especially on multi-hour rides) as a bigger bike.

Big highway bikes are comfortable for long rides, but (in my opinion) terribly awkward to maneuver in tight quarters and impossible to pick up if you spill. They are downright dangerous off the road.

I started out with a Japanese-made 125 cc enduro (when I weighed about 110 lb) and have gradually moved up to a 1000 cc Harley Sportster. This was a good progression for me. When I was learning to ride, I had to pick the little 125 up off the ground many times. I didn't get the Harley until I got to a level of skill at which I almost never have to lay my bike down.

  31. QUESTION:
Girl situation: How should I proceed?
Alrighty.. First off, let me say Im not a newbie to females at all and Ive experienced alot at this stage in life.. but THIS one makes me feel like one all over again and heres the run down:

I met this lady at work... She brought her car to the shop for repairs and the entire time she was there, I was (stealthily) checking her out and noticed she was doing the same.. long story short on that, we talked and exchanged numbers right before she left. the first time we were together afterwards, I took her out on my motorcycle around town and she wanted to learn how to ride. The next day, she wanted to spend the night at my house to "get to know me better" and it seemed as if she was much more "friend to friend-ish" with the convo which threw me off and since she didnt really know me and vice versa.. I didnt want to give the wrong impression early by saying or doing anything sexual and appearing "typical"... so we showered (separately) and slept (in the same bed) together... never touched or said anything sexual.

Another long story short... after 3 weeks of me teaching her how to ride a motorcycle, I was under the impression she was just looking for friendship and a male companion to just befriend.. Im somewhat of a fitness freak so I have a very muscular build... she asked if I had a 6 pack and I told her I actually had an 8 pack and thought nothing of it, she then proceeded to ask if i could show her, so of course, I did... and she asked if she could feel my arms and chest so of course, I said yes.. she gives NO facial expressions or throws zero hints that shes interested even in the least bit, until I took off my shirt, and even then it was almost unnoticeable.

Another long story short (lol) its now been a month and a week that ive known her, and over the course of the last week, we still go out on the bike, and now, she wants me to be her personal trainer so we work out together and go running... and she out of the blue tells me she wants a relationship... at this point, she knows all of the key factors about me, and vice versa... and now, her txt messages are starting to show both intimate, and relationship interest, but in person, its like nothing ever was said..

Interestingly enough, shes actually JUST what Im looking for in a woman minus the fact that I cant figure her out by even the least bit which is new for me... now were discussing a relationship.. and to be honest, I cant believe Im actually saying/doing this... but I dont know how to proceed with her... I somehow feel the need to hold back from telling her how I feel about her and my urges for intimacy... Now, over the phone and in txt messages from her, she calls me babe... boo... hubby... etc.... but in person, its like im a different person or something? Maybe shes excessively shy??? I dont know... but its kinda a turn on in an unexplainable way... maybe the mystery??? BUT.... how should I proceed from here?? What should I do??? What would YOU do if YOU were ME? lol... should I just take control (like I know how to and am used to) and just go for the kiss.... and the intimacy? Or should I let her come around when shes comfortable enough to not be shy?
oh yea... even though I can always tell when a female shows interest in me, Im looking for something serious now and not just casual fun with females who want me for looks, its old now... and shes really a sweetheart, and spending the night with me and not acting on any urges (she told me not too long ago she gets horny thinking about me lol) shows me that shes not after me for my appearance which is a plus.... Ive also loaned her a considerable amount of money and she paid me back right when she said she would which also shows me something, Im thinking Im on to something... but Im outgoing and fast paced when it comes to life... and shes the opposite... and thats the only problem... IF shes truly the one, I dont want to disrespect her with any wild crazy sex talk that Im used to... I guess life is about sacrifice to get what you want sigh... But idk

    • ANSWER:
theres no mystery... trust what she told you in private... she wants a relationship, some people just arent into to pda... so go with the flow... express intimacy in your text and none outside, until she directs you otherwise... and seeing how she initiated the relationship, spending the night and seeing you shirtless, she doesnt seem like the type to shy away in a fit of nervousness...

  32. QUESTION:
For those who live the "western" lifestyle?
Recently I have taken an interest in the "western" style of riding and am finding that I have some questions regarding the "lifestyle". They are as follows:

    1) When I look through western clothing/decor catalogs I find that there are very few choices. The "rock and roll" or "Harley Davidson" style seems to be predominant, or sometimes the old west 1800's type style is present. Why is the western riding culture now centering around motorcycles and rock n' roll instead of horses and country and blue grass music like it used to?

    2) The last few rodeos, stock shows, or other western events I have attended have had far fewer spectators than what I remember from growing up.

    3) Growing up cowboys/cowgirls were always presented to me and the equine community I participated in as the highest form of horsemanship (dressage too...just different disciplines). I was taught to respect these hard working men and women and learn from their ways to polish my skills. Now when I attend events like the ones above I have found the level of general horsemanship, riding skills, and equine knowledge has dropped drastically from when I was young. I have even whitnessed a growing amount of "roughness" and abuse toward the animals that I have never before in my life seen at rodeos/western equine events.

This concerns me. I love western and would like things to understand why these changes have come about. The clothing style is not concerning, just puzzling.

Can anyone offer an explanation for this culture change?
Courtney, you never have to be rough with any animal to gain respect. Coming from a completely scientific and experience point of view being rough even a "little" with an animal, especially a large animal, only causes them to fear you. In the case of horses this fear breeds an unhealthy and increasingly dangerous environment. I should know. I have extensive experience working with veterinarians as a vet tech, and some of the top trainers in my area as a student and as an assistant. I also own my own equine business and have attended many equine science lectures in pursuit of an equine science degree. Also, I was not referring to the skill level and knowledge dropping in the equine community across the board, only in the western community. In the "English" disciplines (which I have been a part of most of my life) the knowledge level both grows and is applied daily.
PS. Everyone keeps saying that attendance must be down due to the economic times...I guess I didn't explain this part thoroughly enough. I have found that attendance to western events in my area (and the surrounding ones that I am able to drive to) have been dropping over say the last 10 years that I have noticed. It is truly sad. Rodeos for instance are so fun, and the show segments between competitions are always so great to watch, especially for the kids.
Yohanson- I have been going to pro rodeo events since I was a child. The events I am referring to are pro rodeo PRCA, IPRA, WPRA, and APRA. In fact I have whitnessed much less abuse, tacky clothing, and ignorance at local level "training" rodeos! Also, you are getting a thumbs down for the nasty way you "speak".
Royce...I really don't know what to say other than this: Stop answering questions just to earn a measly few points!!! Your answer was rude and completely irrelevant to the question.

    • ANSWER:
There are many different and connected reasons for this change. I will answer them in the order that you asked.

      1) This is due to the fact that western lifestyle, has become contaminated by foreign elements (wannabes) that have detracted from the true origins. These rock and rollers are people that wanted to be cowboys when they were five, couldn't become one, but never out-grew the phase. There are people who still keep to the true roots like myself, who still keep it about the horses and the heartland. Not about having everyone looking at you.

      2) Far fewer people are attending rodeos and stock shows, one due to the economy and two the current pop culture is to blame. Due to the new fashion and music trends, it is now considered in many parts of the country to be "gay" to ride horses or to even like them. No "gangsta," "thug," "pot-head," "stoner," "skater," or "rocker" would be caught dead at a rodeo or with in 500 yrds of a horse for that matter. There is a new trend of "rednecks" who think that they are cowboys just because they wear boots and a hat. They don't mind to be at or compete in riding events but this causes problems, which I will answer your third question with.

      3) This is a very sad topic, one that causes me great sadness for both the horse and the overall image of the western riding community. Yes, the true cowboys and cowgirls from the West were the end all when it came to American horsemanship. There methods were learned from the vaqueros of mexico and the old spanish west, and passed down for over 150 years. These vaquero's knew how to train their horses and train them well. Now a days there is a new trend of the above mentioned "rednecks" infecting this once prestigious lifestyle. They jump on a horse, throw horsemanship to the wind, and just go mainly so everyone will look at them. They abuse the horses, and actually don't look that good doing any of the events, and this tarninshes the old prestige that the american cowboy used to have. People these days, get on a horse and think that they know everything, they don't need a trainer becuase "hey, it can't be that hard." It is a sad fact that the american cowboy is a dying breed, rubbed out by ignorant people who know nothing about what they are doing. I used to compete in rodeo events but became disgusted by the treatment of the horses. I would take almost a year and a half to finish a rope horse, and now we have these ignorant, incompetent riders who say they can finish one in 90 days. If a horse is "finished" in 90 days...then it ain't really finished, because any true horseman knows you can't finish any horse in only 90 days.

There ARE a select FEW times when it is okay to get rough with a horse, namely when they are being truely dangerous i.e. kicking, biting, stallion aggression and stuff like that. For visual affect I would put it like this, if I am saddleing a horse and it kicks out when I tighten the cinch, yes, I will kick it in the belly (thats what Alpha-mare would do with aggressive behavior in a herd situation). If, however, the horse only bloats persay, I won't do anything, it doesn't harm anything, it just takes you a little longer to cinch up the horse. There is a BIG difference between more aggressive reprimanding for a dangerous offense and just wanton abuse.

If you read carfully, you will see there is a pattern...it all has a root cause in people wanting to look good, and not caring that they really don't belong, and that they need to actually know something before they just go out there and do it. It is a sad but true fact that the real western lifestyle is dead, carried on by the few remaining traditionalists who still keep it about the horses, hard work, honesty, God, country and honor. I appologize if I seem bitter, but thats what happens when you see people destroy the thing you love and not be able to do much about it.

  33. QUESTION:
    Retiring from motorcycles?
Hey guys, this isnt a question, but I'll get the word out why im done with motorcycles.

The 8th, a few days ago I was on my ninja zx6,at a red light going straight, light turns green and i get about 1/4 of the way throuh the intersection when a woman turning left nails the gas, and then sees me I'm guessing and slams on brakes, I hit her head on,I fell off of the bike and my head/helmet gets stuck UNDER the womans bumper of her grand cherokee, multiple people come and see if im alright, I'm still stuck, I could'nt yell clearly because I was in shock- my entire head was stuck under her car, and my mouth was full of blood, about a minute passes and they realize I'm stuck , she runs back into her car and puts it in reverse and finally gets off of me, by that time there were 10-15 peoplr over me and I'm violently shaking, looking like i was having a seizue. 2 minutes or so later the ambulace arrived, they told me my lip was ripped off of my face and my right hand was broken, luckily, later i found out, my lip had ripped where your gums connect to your chin, and 4 of my fingers in right hand had broken. I spent 3 days in hospital, 48 stitches in mouth and had titanium rods and plates put into my hand, I am now home and okay- just in INSANE pain, even with pain killers.

I understand that shit happens, but all of this happened a month after I had just got in 2 othe accidents where people had cut me off and I hve avoided over 30 accidents in a yr probably, I have been riding bikes street and dirt since i was eight years old, and now I am done- cagers and most people in general have no respect for motorcycles, they txt on phone- talk on phone eat and who knows whatever else, and merge into lanes generally just not giving a fuck. I know the woman didnt mean to hit me but it just shows she wasnt paying attention at all, we both sat at the red light for atleast 30 seconds i know thats enough time to notice a bright red bike.

I have learned to type with SOME speed w my left hand over the past 2 days although hard.
Ill be going through months of physical therapy to be able to use my right hand again.

Just wanted to get my story out- the biker community has been some of the friendliest people I have ever met. It will be hard getting used to not having the freedom of a bike, but I dont want to kill myself over other people.

and women have a tiny itty bit of testosterone

um.. okay so Hi, i was born with a vagina... so that makes me female, and i get my period and super moody all the time, and i take ballet

    but

but for years and years people have been telling me. or accusing me of being a dyke or a butch or a man, whatever you wanna call it

basically from 5th grade to current day (college)
cuz i always kept my hair short and wore baggy boys clothes

i was raised as a daddy's girl with a feminist mother, i never learned how to be "girly"
i ride a motorcycle and fix cars and climb things and get dirty and i love bugs and animals

i am not the "typical girl with piercings"

im not "hard core" or "goth" or anything, im shy and i live under a rock and ive never been to a concert or a rave ive never been drunk i dont even listen to metal

    • ANSWER:
Everyone has a lot of esterogen, it helps in bone formation. You could be experiencing low levels of your normal female hormones which could be linked to a thyroid condition. However, this is a debate of nature vs. nuture. You could be more "manly" because of the way you were raised. But this does not mean you are half male and half female. Your body is probably just not showing normal womanly curves, which comes with your genetics. I wouldn't worry about what people say, and just enjoy who you are. But you could have hormone testing to see if there is an issue. After all they can put you on hormone therapy and this could fix some of your 'manly" personality traits, but it is too late for development issues.

  35. QUESTION:
please help I need a website but I know nothing but I am willing to learn if I just knew where to start?
I know nothing about building a website but I would like one where people can put up pics of there cars, motorcycles, Art Work & Crafts and say what they think about there work good or bad. But at the same time other people are free to put up there works and be fair about it when some one has something to say about there work also. All in good fun an professional criticism of course.

I would like a website with a "FORUM" and/or a "BLOG" or "BOTH" that covers not just Art in the traditional sense but Art in the "FORM" of building "CHOPPERS" & "CARS" "FOX BODY MUSTANGS PREFERABLY" because its my favorite years & time line for "MUSTANGS".

It would be cool if a few people who decide to get on there "CHOPPERS" and go for a 1000 mile ride with all there blankets and 2-people tents and all the things people would need all Rolled up nice and really tight and safe connected to the Sissy Bar and Rolled up safe and tight down the front forks to be free out on the Road and sleep under the stars making there camp fires etc, etc.. And some of the people decided to bring hand held came corders and A Canon Rebel Digital Camera to document the entire rode trip event and even giving it a name something that would take your mind back to a time where strong Men and Women were free to ride the trails across the beautiful land we call America. And you can bet that if they wanted to cruise at speeds of 125-MPH they would do it (if the Roads were as good as the roads today. The whole thing would be about making it to a "GIANT "MOTORCYCLE RALLY" THAT HAPPENS ONLY ONE TIME A YEAR. And when its all over The people that decided to go just so happen to be members of my "WEBSITE" and tell us every thing that happen and show us "ALL THE PICTURES OF THE TRIP" and they would even post UP links to SHOW the "HAND HELD VIDEO DIGITAL CAMERA to SHOW OFF WHAT ALL HAPPEN on the trip THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY".

I seen a friend make a website like this... in a way. This website was simply about a game where you play against other people from 20 miles away to 500 Miles away. It was a pretty simple and a basic Forum Set-up and people could leave messages and talk to each other by typing letters through the Forum but when we got a Talking Live Free system set up, we never did use the website Forum System other then to let people know who we were and to leave messages to challenge us to a game etc.

It was a simple website. He made one single page that simply told the person who was reading what the" GAME WAS ABOUT AND WHO WERE THE PLAYERS AND HOW ANY THERE WERE & THE RULES ETC, ETC, ETC."at that point you simply agreed to the rules and put down your email address "OR NOT" but if you did you went to your email and waited for a letter that said your in and excepted. Then after that you clicked the high-lighted address then you popped up back into another website and this website was a forum website. And there were all kinds of sections and "TOPICS" to choose from if you wanted to talk about things or answer some ones questions if you knew the answer.

Or you could make up your own "TOPIC" if you had a question or wanted to make a statement..

The website that I would be just fine with today would simply be the one page website with a simple forum because it cost nothing . And then latter I guess I could learn on my own how to make a website that was a Blog and a Forum. then latter learn to make a website that people can post pictures up and members could talk about it. But the website I wrote about up-top is my DREAM WEBSITE but that will be latter down the road I guess

Does anyone know if there are DVD's for sale that show you step by step how to build a website from a simple one to hard ones? Or how much does some one charge to make a simple Forum website?

  36. QUESTION:
    motorcycle recommendations?
I am just learning to ride and am looking for a good starter bike. My husband bought me a used 77 honda 550 but I feel like it's going to be too big and heavy for me. I am a woman, I am 5'4" and weigh about 150lbs. What bikes would be a good height and weight for someone like me?

    • ANSWER:
      Congrats on learning to ride.

I guess it depends on what bike/type you are attracted to most, as there are many good starter bikes out there.

It also depends on the individual. If you are somewhat intimidated by an older 500 then I think starting smaller is good. Some people start on supersports! Certainly not a good choice for anyone, but it all depends.

I can personally vouch for the Kawasaki Ninja 250. Fantastic bikes, cheap, easy to work on. They will do 110 mph. I have owned two of them. You can learn a lot on them and if you use it to it's full potential it should last you a while. I get a kick out of riding them still and I have driven many types/sizes of bikes.

If you're more into the cruiser bikes, a Honda Rebel 250 is a good bike as well. Certainly tame and they can cruise on the highway acceptably well. You wouldn't want to do any 500 mile days on it but hey, for learning I think it'd be great. Can't really go wrong with Honda.

You could also go for an older Honda CM 400 or something of that sort, easy to ride. And light.

I suggest going to a shop and sitting on some that you like, then look for a similar used model for sale in your area.

      Good luck!

P.S. I have done many 500+ mile days on the Ninja 250, traveling at a constant 80 mph or more, and it never complained. I sold my second one with 14 thousand miles on it. Did all the maintenance on it. Parts are cheap and easily obtainable if you ever need to work on it. Really great bikes!

  38. QUESTION:
What is the perfect career for me based on my personality?
In the following, I want to tell you about myself.

“You should become an architect,” a curvaceously hot chick said to me after examining my portfolio of buildings and other artworks. Sometime before the hot chick scenario, a dude, who was the greatest athlete (according to his awards and wins) of the school, mentioned to my peers, “He (I) will be on the cover of Forbes magazine.” “...The student of the year award goes to,” one of the teacher announced, “John Bytheway (my pseudonym).” Out of all the great things that happened to me, I also had plenty of failures and flaws. For instances, I did not graduate high school with an Honor Diploma. My weighted GPA was below 4.0. Lastly, I am a low self-esteem kid who has an unhealthy social life. To conclude, I want the perfect career that fits my personality.
I want to become a millionaire. Ever since I was young, I wanted to drive a nice car(s) and live in a big house (mansions). When a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or Mercedes drove by, I always stared and imagined what it would be like to drive such cars. I used to lived adjacent to a law firm. Everyday, I saw BMWs, Porches, and Mercedes. I told my mother that I wanted to be like those lawyers. While walking from the bus stop to my house one day, I looked up at a glamorously superficial condominium. I desired to live there. It looked so expensive and materialistic.
When I was a kid, I always took challenges such as swimming naked in deep rivers, exploring terra incognita (according to the general population), and climbing tall trees. I want more of those. I want to jump out of an airplane and accelerate towards the Earth; I want to feel the terminal velocity (Of course, I also want to pull the parachute before I land.); I want to tie a rope to my feet and jump off a cliff; I want to summit the tallest mountain. There is nothing like jumping out of your comfort zone and stop thinking and worrying about the hectic life. It is so much fun to let go of your thoughts.
My feet had been stepped only on three countries. Living in the United States for seven-and-a-half year is irksome. I want to step outside of this soil and visit all of the seven continents. I want to see the northern (or southern) light; I want to summit the Pyramid of Giza; I want to visit the palace of Taj Mahal; I want to ride a motorcycle along the trail of the Great Wall; I want to make out with a French prostitute on the Eiffel tower; I want to dance on the beaches of Mexico with beautiful women; I want to boat along the river of Amazon and explore the jungle; I want to travel the world.
During the beginning of my sophomore year at high school, me and my family was evicted out of our apartment. That experience changed the course of my life. My mother had to call her friend, who lived near by, and we had to live with her. We (me, my mother, and my elder brother) shared the living room, while the host family shared the single bedroom. They took us under their wings. They were really nice people. They cooked everyday and always asked us to eat with them. (The husband used to be a Buddhist monk.) Before my sophomore year, I always performed bad in school. All of my report cards were a bowl of C's, D's, and F's. I did occasionally get an A or two, and I was really happy. One day, on the first quarter of my sophomore year, the report came out. My science teacher stared at my report card and said, “Wow.” He then handed it to me. I was the only one in class whom received straight A's. From then one, I get a couple more of all A's report cards.
The straight A's report cards introduced me to one thing that I truly love. That true love of mine is neither women nor money, although they are possible candidates for my future love life. My true, may be even the unconditional, love is (drum roll) Education. I truly love Education. The period that I lived with the divine family, I learned that education is the thing that will make me successful (financially and everything else), happy, and a good person of the society. The Goddess, Education, gave me wings and taught me how to fly (Please don't use the quotation without citing.).
This love of mine, steered me into pursuing a Bachelor's degree. I never thought in my life that I would be going to college. Yet I will be attending a university this upcoming fall.
When I go to college, I want to study architecture, business, or engineering. I want to study architecture, because I deem that I am good at the subject. When people cannot go to sleep, some of them counts sheep; some of them counts numbers. Unlike them, I visualize shapes and imagine ways to put them together in order to create a harmony of beauty and function. People have told me that I should be an architect. Sometimes, I just want to work in a bank or be a CEO. Some of the reasons are: money (greed), power, and leadership. Like I said, I want to be a millionaire. I guess I can say that money and power are related
I also want to lead. I feel that responsibility and the power to lead without abusing shape an ordinary man into extraordinary.
The subject of money led me into investing. I have a dream that I am a tycoon in a field of investment, whether it's stock, real estate, foreign currency, or alternatives. I just feel like I want to rule the stock market.
There are some people I like; there are some I don't like; but I get along with them well. However, I feel that I should break off from the society sometime and work independently as an entrepreneur (just for developing ideas), inventor, or scientist. I feel like getting away and live on a deserted place.
I always thought that greed is my biggest sin, and lust is my second biggest. Turns out, lust might be my biggest sin. A few months ago when I attended in high school, I looked at many beautiful women and wanting to have intercourse with all of them. I do not prefer which one. Black, white, yellow, fat, skinny, whatever, as long as they
are attractive to me, I want them all. The furthest thing I got from a girl was a friendly cuddle (ugh).
Although I may be an idealist (not much of a realist) and a total pervert (may be a creep), I do want to get married and have a few children. There are some girls in my mind that I truly like, but I never get a chance to really know them. I never have the materials to take them out on a nice date. I think that might have to do with me wanting to become a millionaire. May be it isn't greed after all that makes me want to be rich, but the desire to meet new people; may be it just me wanting to find the love greater than Education.
I admit that I am a superficial and greedy pervert, but that is not for you to judge. I am asking for your help in order to determine what are some careers for me based on my personality, failures, successes, and skills.

    • ANSWER:
Idk you want a lot of money and you don't seem like a great person. Sounds like you'll probably end up going to law school or business school. Not to say that all people or even a substantial part of people lumped into these groups want a lot of money and aren't great people, it appears you fall under that category.

You'll most likely end up fading away like so many others who have came before you.

    The Motorcycle Diaries II?
Will Robert Redford produce "The Motorcycle Diaries II", detailing the later years of the icon Che Guevara?

The first picture was very sweet, but didn't really explain how such a nice guy wound up being called, "The Butcher of La Cabaña".

Maybe the long motorcycle ride and sorrowful images of poor people were enough to inspire the che to become a cold-blooded murderer. Even to the extent that shooting a pregnant woman in the stomach or executing an innocent 14 year old boy made sense.

Oh, come on folks. People would be outraged by an Adolph Hitler t-shirt, but many don't bat an eye at t-shirts of che. Is it because we don't learn Cuban history in school?

He is in a bad place, how do I help him?
I'll try to make this short, but I have to tell you the whole situation. My friend (known him about 6 months or so) is going through a really rough time right now. He is in the process of going through a bad divorce in which his wife cheated on him with his friend. They seperated about a year ago, and have 2 kids together. He gets them half of the time. I met him over the summer by chance in a parking lot and he offered me a ride on his motorcycle, and over time we have talked a lot and I've learned about what he's been going through. He lost his job, is sharing an apartment with a couple friends, he has no car, and hardly any possessions (she sold them all). He tells me it hurts him so badly, and is basically just trying to get by right now. We like eachother but both agree its a super bad time to be doing any dating, because of his situation! He's afraid of getting into any rebound relationships and has no desire for one right now. My question is, how can I be there for him? I know guys handle emotions differently than women do.. I tell him he can talk to me at any time, but he doesnt seem to want to talk. What do guys want when they are going through a rough time? Should I just leave him alone? I would like to help, but I really don't know how. ( He is 31 and Im 28)

Don't put any pressure on him to spill how he's feeling, just be there if he ever does decide he wants to talk.

  42. QUESTION:
What is a good and cheap learner motorcycle for a 5'2 woman?
I am 5'2 and want to learn how to ride. I have never ridden before other than a small kiddy motorcycle stuck in 1st gear =P. I plan on taking a 2 day safety course, but I don't think this will be enough practice for me. I have done some reasearch and plan on getting a Ninja 250 or 500 once I feel comfortable, but until then what would be a good bike to learn on? To be honest, I really want something that is light weight and easy to save yourself from falling if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree with the guy who said to get a dirt bike.

      Suzuki GSX250F

      kawasaki zxr250

  44. QUESTION:
Should I take him back, and if so, when and under what circumstances?
My guy and I have dated a little over a year. For the most part, our relationship has been a very happy one. I have no children, but he has a young son whom I adore, and I have a wonderful relationship with his mother, brother, and long-term friends, etc.

Recently, we started a company together focused on the motorcycle lifestyle (a past time we both share) and started promoting bike night events at a local hot spot. At our first actual event, the weather was poor, turnout bad. Those that came, I worked to cultivate the relationships and be a gracious hostess. I sat at the table with the females, engaged them, chatted them up and they seemed to be having a lovely time. A couple of his male friends showed up and I did the same with them (call me Ms. Personality =).

Later, a younger gentleman came into the bar who seemed to know my guy's friends. He wanted up to the table I was at (with the ladies). I told him about our company and he had a brief conversation about his desire to learn to ride, his side music hustle, and his path to getting his life on track after a stint in prison for drugs. (this would NEVER under any circumstances be someone I date, flirt with or anything like it!). During this exchange, up comes my man, yelling angrily at this guy for being "all up in my lady's face!!!" Then, accusing me of trying to date this guy right in front of him. Then calling me a slut for even trying to interact in a professional way. He never asked what we were talking about in a calm, rational manner. He immediately got jealous, jumped to conclusions and embarassed and disrespected me in public. Got loud, caused a scene, pushed me and called me names (we are both grown-ups! I'm 30, he's 35). This came as a total shock to me!! I was floored and had never seen this side of him. I responded by leaving - well, after slapping his face for calling me a club slut - trying to exit as gracefully as possible considering the circumstances.

It's been a week and now he's texted my friends with the following message: "To all of her true friends, I showed out yall yes I did. I let my passion, my ego n satan get the best of us! I WANT MY GIRL BACK! I love dat woman to death."

So, my question is, should I take him back, if so, should I make him sweat? Work his way back? How do I do this?
Okay, all, I believe I should add that he is going through something major and emotional in his life. His older brother is dying from a genetic disease called Adrenomyeloneuropathy (a form of Leukodystrophy). It's a degenerative disease of which there is no known cure and is both mentally and physically debilitating. He's been slowly deteriorating for the past 11 years, however in the last year the degeneration has become VERY rapid. His brother is not the same person...is mean...demanding and has become a total invalid. My guy has alot of the responsibility to help care for him and his 11 year old daughter. Should I take this into account his recent erratic behavior?

    Lose Weight On Motorcycle?
Honda VT750 Aero ,My wife wants to learn to ride a Bike but feels if one of My smaller Bikes the Honda Shadow 750 wasnt so heavy she could learn ,So how could I lighten it up a Hundred pounds maybe more ,And any woman riders ever start out on anything bigger than a 750 she would love to know

    • ANSWER:
Hey Terry , My wife is 5'-2" maybe one twenty. She rides a Yamaha V-Star 1100. She actually started on a 650 V-Star but quickly moved up. Dude there is really no safe way you can lighten a bike up. The main thing is your wife HAS to be able to flatfoot the bike. My wife can and has picked up her bike (its one of the things they taught her in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course) . I HIGHLY recommend the course. Teaching someone how to ride is hard enough....much less someone you go home with at night. Sign her up for the course. It takes three days and they provide the bikes usually 250cc. The course covers quite a few techniques and I promise you if she passes, she'll be able to ride. My wife and I travel around the country together on our vacations in the summer and it riding has brought us closer together.
Good luck to you and the wife.

PS see my 360 page for bike pics in the albums and see my blog entry "Why I Ride"

  46. QUESTION:
Can you recommend a good Make & Model Motorcycle for a Woman?
    I'm 5ft 2 & 115 lbs ( real weight:),"athletic" and in my mid 40's...
Looking for advice on a bike I can Handle considering my size and fairly limited experience.
I will be using it for Local travel in the city and suburbs.( Metro Detroit area) & possibly LA )
With the Occasional "road trip" in the future ,as I learn more.

Would also like to have a Bike that can handle a passenger..someone approx. my same size (teen).

Love any words of advice especially from other women, guys with "real" world riding experience.

    Thanks,
    Peace

    • ANSWER:
I just finished the Riders Safety Course and now have my license. I purchased a V Star 650 prior to knowing how to ride. Its been tough getting used to it, but its amazing and comfortable, easy to handle, once you have the basics down... ie., clutch control and balance. I skipped buying a smaller bike knowing I would outgrow it in a short amount of time. Maybe a mistake, but I do love my V Star. I'm your size, 5"3 120 lbs., mid-40's and athletic. Get past the "get to know you" stage and the V Star 650 is perfect.

  47. QUESTION:
Hornsby used dead woman's credit card. That's disgusting! Your thoughts?
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A Florida football player was kicked off the team Friday after turning himself in on charges he used the gas credit card of a woman who was killed along with another player in a motorcycle accident.

Jamar Hornsby has been kicked off the Florida football team.
Jamar Hornsby, a 21-year-old junior safety, learned Thursday that a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest on charges he used the dead woman's gas card for six months, so he surrendered on charges of credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card, lawyer Huntley Johnson said.

Hornsby was released from jail several hours later on his own recognizance.

It was not immediately clear how Hornsby got the card. Johnson declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but said they would cooperate with authorities.

The credit card belonged to Ashley Slonina, a Florida junior. She was riding a motorcycle with another football player, redshirt freshman Michael Guilford, last October that hit a median at a high rate of speed, police said. The two died at the scene. They were not wearing helmets.

Hornsby started using the gas card the day after Slonina died. The card was used 33 times in Alachua County and another 37 times in Jacksonville, where Hornsby is from. The total amount was ,000, said Alachua County Sheriff's Office spokesman Stephen Maynard.

"I would love to hear the explanation for utilizing the card of a deceased person," Maynard said.

The sheriff's office will continue to investigate and forward their findings to the State Attorney's Office, Maynard said.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said in a statement that Hornsby "is not part of our program."

Hornsby missed five games last season after being suspended for selling free football tickets he received as a student. He was also arrested in April 2007 after a fight in Gainesville, but his lawyer said those charges were dropped.

State prosecutors did not return phone messages or e-mails seeking comment.
Not only was that sick and pretty disgusting but that was universally stupid! ( o _ 0 ) Come on Hornsby! Where's your freakin' head at? Nimrodski!

  49. QUESTION:
Do u think this will cut it?
I'm a 5'6", 186lb, 31 year-old woman and smoker. I've been a big girl all my life. Never wanted to diet, and never cared to exercise (although I enjoyed exercising, just never did it) The way I saw it was, unless my doctor cautioned me to lose weight, I didn't really have anything to worry about.

Well, that was then and this is now. A few weeks ago, I was riding in the passenger seat of my car, and noticed a friend across the street. I waved, excitedly, and happened to glance down into the side mirror and saw my arm just jiggle on it's own. in it's own direction - it jiggled. I saw that and was immediately irritated. I'd NEVER not liked how I looked before, and now I see this? Not good.

So - I decided I'd exercise. I just started two weeks ago - and I'd like to hear from you to see if my regimen will work. I've given myself a goal too - if I exercise just three times a week, for an entire year - I can buy myself a motorcycle (I've been wanting one for a while now). But ONLY if I exercise at least three times a week.

I started walking, at a fast and steady pace (like I said, I'm a smoker - jogging isn't quite in the picture just yet - I'm hoping the exercise will help me to quit smoking too!) and I walk two miles. While I'm walking I use 3lb hand weights and rotate four different arm exercises.

I did this for six straight days (because I changed my mind and decided that if I don't do this every day, I'll quit. I'll allow myself a two-day break after the first month. I want to show myself how serious I am about this) and then finally admitted to myself that if I really want to get this weight down, and tone up - I'd have to diet. I REALLY don't want to diet. But, in just that small amount of time, I can tell my muscles are hardening, and I'm afraid I'll wind up looking like hulk-hogan if I don't diet...or at least cut back.

So, because I don't like dieting, I decided I'd cut back on what I eat. Instead of drinking pepsi and coke all day, I still drink a half of one in the morning, but for the rest of the day, I'm drinking water. Vitamin water if I want flavor. I've changed my bread from regular white, to wheat pita, I'm no longer eating fast food, and I'm learning that I don't have to kill the entire bag of chips (the .99cent grab bag), I can eat it per serving.

The diet part is KILLING me, but the exercising is pretty cool. I've got a year...

Will this make a difference by then?

Oh, I forgot to add: yesterday, I felt like I wasn't doing as much as I could be, so I did 10 sets of 10 crunches (100 crunches) and walked up and down my stairs (there's only 12 steps) 10 times before I began my walk.

Thanks for your input. I really want this to work - any and all ideas are welcome!
Ugh! Calorie counting? Eeew! I hate paying attention to what I eat. I am so lazy. Could I create a days worth of meals on an 1800 calorie/day diet and just eat that every day? LOL

    • ANSWER:
This is a lucid, well thought out and well written question and I think you deserve a good answer.

Firstly, congratulations. You are already doing things right. The first step to weight loss is to have a plan. Which you do. Good for you.

Losing weight isn't really difficult at all, and as a nutritionist, I can tell you that you do NOT need any fad diets to do so. While we're on the subject of dieting, let's clear up one misconception now: Everyone is on a diet, whether you realise it or not. Your diet is simply the food that you are eating on a daily basis. The only difference is that some diets support weight loss while others promote it. Dieting isn't an ugly or evil word. To me, it really refers more to a lifestyle than anything else.

Coming back to the subject of weight loss, I know you don't want to hear this, but you really need to learn to count calories and understand the concept of caloric balance. If you do, I can assure you one thing: You will never be fat again. Seems a worthy investment to me don't you think?

At 186lbs, you should be consuming about 1800 calories per day, NETT. In my personal experience, this should be sufficient to see a decent rate of weight loss (about 1.5lbs per week). And this is a general guideline for anyone looking to lose weight: Consume (bodyweight in pounds x 10) calories. Spread this out over 5 meals per day because you want to be eating constantly, but small meals each time. The explanation is simple: By eating small meals constantly throughout the day, you will be forcing your body to work all the time. Remember, digestion costs your body energy too, and this burns calories. By doing this, your metabolic rate is elevated throughout the day.

At the same time, you will definitely want to do daily exercise. And this is the really easy part. It doesn't matter if you're cycling, walking, jogging, running, swimming or dancing. They are all activities that burn calories. The key is to do it CONSISTENTLY, which means at least 4 to 5 times per week. Also, at least twice a week, you should be doing weights. The reason is simple: You want to preserve as much muscle mass as possible. On a calorie restricted diet, we are always at risk of losing muscle. This is bad because muscle is the most metabolically active tissue. By losing muscle, you are actually lowering your overall metabolic rate. More muscle = more fat burned. It's that simple. Thus, you definitely want to include weights in your workout. And don't worry about getting too big. This will NEVER happen. Worrying about becoming too muscular is like worrying about being too thin. It's not going to happen. It takes heroic effort in the gym to build muscle. Trust me, you won't end up looking like the Hulk.

To answer your question: Yes, what you're doing is right, but every program could use some fine tuning. I am a physiologist, nutritionist and personal trainer and in my experience, I can assure you that your DIET is the PRIORITY when trying to lose weight. In fact, diet is everything. When bodybuilders try to gain weight, they manipulate their diet to get bigger. When they cut their bodyfat for a competition, guess what? They manipulate their diet too! Dieting is everything. So, do yourself a favour and get it right. You can lose weight from dieting ALONE, without any exercise at all. That's how powerful the diet component can be.

In parting, let me leave you with a link to a photo of a competitive bodybuilder that shows just how powerful dieting can be.

      http://bp0.blogger.com/_eYClgL5P-CE/Rw-c...

It's the same guy in both pictures. And he trains the same way whether he's trying to gain weight or lose weight. The only difference?

      You guessed it: Diet.

Hope this helps. Best of luck in your endeavour! Let me know how it goes! You can email me at iantoh@gmail.com

  50. QUESTION:
Getting my motorcycle permit this week. Need advice! First bike: Honda Rebel?
I have a lot to learn, but I'm determined. I've been eyeing the Honda Rebel as a first bike once I get to that point, but would like a belt driven bike. I think the Rebel is chain. Any suggestions for a -3 K starter bike with a belt drive? It looks like there are converter kits on the market, but I'd prefer not to mess with that kind of complication quite yet. Looking to buy and ride (once comfortable with it all, of course). All you bike lovers: any suggestions? PS. I'm a woman 6ft. 7" and a strong/lean 150 lbs. (I'm a master tile installer). 33" inseam... if any of that matters. Some say yes, other no.
OOPS! Just noticed I typed 6 ft. 7". I'm so sorry. I meant 5 feet, 7". BIIIIIGGG difference. Geez. Would be an interesting life to be that tall! :)

    • ANSWER:
I think the Rebel is a little small for a gal of your stature. You would be better off with a 500 or 600cc Boulevard or Shadow.Being as tall as you are you will need forward controlls so you don't look like you're about to bail off at any second.

Looking For Motorcycle Helmets For Women

Are you looking for women’s motorcycle helmets? Before you do your search, you should be aware of what makes them different from the men’s. First of all, most of women’s motorcycle helmets are made as slightly smaller than your average men’s motorcycle helmets. The designs are made to match the likings of the women to provide more appeal. But all of these should not take away the protection that such helmets should offer.

Women’s motorcycle helmets come in more attractive colors such as bright pink to polished purple. Women’s motorcycle helmets do not hinder any woman from trying to flaunt her femininity while wearing such headgear. In fact, sex appeal comes into consideration also when designing motorcycle helmets geared for women riders.

Looking for the right motorcycle helmet for women would require you to know about the proper sizing and fit. Men and women helmets follow different size measures to prevent one from mistaking the other. But when looking for the best size, nothing still beats fitting them personally before purchasing any helmet. There are some tips that you can follow in order to determine the proper motorcycle helmet fit for you.

First of all, you should try to make use of the manufacturer’s fitting chart to guide you with the sizes available. Find the corresponding helmet size categories that are made available to you. Put them as small, medium, large or extra large. When fitting a certain motorcycle helmet, tug at the chin straps outward in order widen the helmet and place it over your head. Once worn, keep in mind that it should fit snugly and comfortably without moving.

To determine the right fit for your motorcycle helmet, it should be resting tightly on your forehead. It should be tight enough that you will not be able to wedge your thumb between the helmet and your forehead. Once you have made the right fit, adjust and fasten the chinstrap. Do not allow it to restrain your neck.

Once you have the helmet fastened, give your head a little shake to make sure that the helmet doesn’t shift unnecessarily or fall off your head. Once doing that, try mounting your motorcycle in your riding position. Make sure that the top of the helmet won’t be affecting your field of vision while doing this. Along with this, you should also have an unhindered field of vision from both sides while mounting your motorcycle.

If you wear glasses, make sure that your helmet is able to accommodate your corrective eyewear and still fit comfortably. Try pressing down on the helmet and check if the helmet feels comfortable and is able to surround your head. Also check for added comfort, convenience and other safety features before you purchase and take that motorcycle for a ride.

Women Motorcycle Riding Jeans

Casual Wear-2011 Jean Guide

When it comes to choosing the perfect pair of jeans, it is important to be aware of the different styles and washes that are available on the market today. Casual wear is quickly taking over the women's clothing industry and because of this there are more different styles of jeans to choose from than ever. The traditional, constricting jeans style are long gone and today the stretch element in the jeans is what makes them more comfortable and more women want to wear them now than ever.

Everyone is familiar with the skinny jean. It is by far the most popular style of jean on the market today. Yes, it is true that this type of jean can be more formal but it can also be casual wear depending on what you wear with the jeans. The skinny jean should have a length just above or below your ankle because you don't want to jean to bunch at your ankles it is meant to be a straight cut so they hang just above your chosen footwear. No matter what your body type is you can definitely pull of the skinny jean. For shorter women they make you look taller with the form fitting leg and for already tall women they can accentuate your height and create a slimming appearance.

Next on the list are the worn jeans. You can find these worn looking jeans in just about any style and although you may immediately assume they can only be worn to casual events, even these jeans can be glammed up with the right top. Worn jeans can create an edgier appearance and create a more risky look. There is a fine line however between worn jeans and jeans that are just threads! There are some jeans that have so many holes that no, you can't wear them everywhere. But if you are looking for a pair of versatile jeans, a few small holes and wear marks are all it takes to create this fashion trends.

Flare jeans are beginning to fade to the trends of the pencil and skinny jeans. Flare jeans are best suited for taller women because they tend to make shorter women look even shorter than they actually are. The flare is a vintage trend that will never be eliminated but for now, straight legged and boot cut have taken over their market share.

It's important to remember that the added stretch in jeans today can make them initially fit tighter than what you're looking for but they will stretch out after only one wear. By keeping this in mind you will have a better chance of finding those perfect fitting jeans. The rise of jeans is typically quite low compared to the extreme high waist jeans of the past. This is something you will likely get used to if you aren't already. It is a far more comfortable way to wear jeans and this is only one reason the casual wear industry has made this adjustment.

In 2011 replace those old, out dated jeans and you will be instantly updating your entire closet!

  2. QUESTION:
Women only: Sorry for being so frank, I keep hearing stories and am curious if they are true...?
Honest (really honest) ladies only. Which of the following have given you the Big "O" in the past year - and how many times?

    - Horseback riding (does this actually work?)
    - Motorcycle
    - Riding a bike
    - Tight jeans
    - Thong undies
    - Using a bidet
    - Wearing a thick maxi pad

I just read this incredible article about "accidental" female stimulation and it's got me wondering what I'm missing (!).
Are any of these real? Please let me know... thanks!
(and sorry for being so frank).

    • ANSWER:
to be frank nothing of the above worked for me .. the only time i had an accidental stimulation was when i was sixteen and squeezed my legs together ..

  3. QUESTION:
Accidental stimulation - embarassin but true?
Ok, as a woman, we have different "special parts" than men of course. Some can come in contact with things accidentally and give a little buzz, right ladies? So I'm curious (and hope I am not alone). Tell us what works? Motorcycle, horseback riding (definitel for me), washing machine, tight jeans (two of my girlfriends swear by it), etc. What works? What takes you to the edge (climax)? Pls. be honest. Ladies only.

    • ANSWER:
Wearing a sheer stockings, a thong and garterbelt the garter straps pulled a little to tight while I am moving around a lot, like running up stairs, chasing a cab, out dancing, or in the office in and out of my chair and crossing my legs. I have had to buy new thongs at lunch hour.

The straps tugging on thighs and stockings, seems to get me going until I can feel the thong on the outside trying to get in and bang, I have a wonderful accident. I once just sat on the back of a running motorcycle with my office clothes on, and the same thing happened. I didn't even go for a ride, but the engine viabration did the same thing.

  4. QUESTION:
Accidental stimulation - embarassing by true?
Ok, as a woman, we have different "special parts" than men of course. Some can come in contact with things accidentally and give a little buzz, right ladies? What takes you to the edge (climax)? Pls. be honest. Ladies only.

    • ANSWER:
Ok, I actually decided to keep track a while back. Here's my list (can't believe I am admitting this!).

      Motorcycle absolutely!
      Tight jeans
      Certain kinds of undies
Thick maxi pads (sorry, just being honest!)
      Bicycle (sometimes)
I have never been horseback riding, but I'm sure that would work.
Crossing my legs and rocking on rocking chair.
Sitting on a bidet (first time was in a hotel on a business trip. I spent almost the entire time on it! - kidding) - but it really does the trick.

That's it for now... you're not alone.

  5. QUESTION:
Accidental stimulation - embarassing but true?
Ok, as a woman, we have different "special parts" than men of course. Some can come in contact with things accidentally and give a little buzz, right ladies? So I'm curious (and hope I am not alone). Tell us what works? Motorcycle, horseback riding (definitel for me), washing machine, tight jeans (two of my girlfriends swear by it), etc. What works? What takes you to the edge (climax)? Pls. be honest. Ladies only.

    • ANSWER:
I get a "buzz" sometimes at a stoplight in my Porche Boxer. The engine is a little rough, and when I am at a stoplight with my foot on the clutch, I get off when I am dressed for work wearing my stockings and garter belt. Its almost as if the vibration is driving my thong into me. I become very aware of the nylons on my legs and the pull of the garter straps on my thighs and butt and nearly climax.

I have had people behind me bang on their horns, to get me going again sometimes. What a trip, it is similar to riding on a motorcycle, but I can do it solo everyday to and from work.

  6. QUESTION:
Why can't I attract the type of man I want?
I have a personals ad that is specific about what I want and what really don't like. I have left response to some good looking guys only to get no response back from them. It seems every guy that leaves me a message is a rough looking red neck type with a beard (which I specify I dont like). They all like to hunt and ride motorcycles. I am a girly type woman who doesn't own a pair of jeans and like to go places where you can dress half decent. I like sophisicated men but seem to only hear from these other types. I come in contact everyday with attractive business men who come into the store where I work but most of them have wedding rings on. Is that all that is left is these bearded hunting and fishing hicks? I could like them as a friend but there just isn't any physical attraction there for me.
I do prefer older men, and I am 40 and I am open to guys up to age 58 but they don't respond back. I get these ugly bearded couch potato men. I have a lover who is attractive, professional, and classy. He is my ideal of a man but unfortunatly he is taken, married. Why can't I find a single man like him
I am in good shape, petite and slim and try to dress well at all times. Anyway this is reflected on mypersonal ad. No mention of me being a biker chick or anything.

    • ANSWER:
I sometimes have the same kind of problem---only mine involves attracting the wrong kind of women. As stated in a previous question of mine, I have a problem with attracting women who are already in relationships. We never actually go out, for I am able to find out about their SOs before starting anything. But still, it's frustrating.

Likewise, I am currently on a personals site, and am having trouble. I am starting to think I just don't present myself very well online, or maybe I am just not what women want, because about 90% of the women the site matches me with either will not respond to my requests to communicate, close out communication with me completely without even giving things a shot, or "put me on hold." Oh well. I'm sure we'll all find someone eventually. We just have to have patience.

As for attracting the redneck types, I don't know. Maybe you just appeal to them, for some reason. It wouldn't surprise me to know that they simply do not read your profile. lol All I can say is, just keep trying to contact the professional-type guys, and surely one of them will come around eventually. That's what I keep telling myself about my situation.

  7. QUESTION:
Here is my X-Men 70's TV show main title idea. What do you think?
    Think of an X-Men theme song with a 70's style with some disco effects and psychodelic to TV rock. This is the beggining of the TV show as a montage of clips showing different characters starting with Cylcops;

Cyclops:Wearing a tennis outfit after playing a game as he wipes his forehead with a towel. smiling at Jean with the camera just showing the side of her face. Then goes to him running into a burning building, followed by him blasting a bad guy away from a mutant girl with some cheap lasor effects as he wear a really bad 70's version of what it would look like his superhero outfit, and then the actor's name in frozen picture.

Bad guys run and look to each other in fear. Wolverine.

Wolverine: Lights up a cigar wearing a motorcycl jackets and jeans with some really 70's side burns and chops. Rides a motorcycle into a bar. Looking mean and whipping out his claws at some punk as he slices the dude's knife in half while he wears his red and yellow spandex suit. Then cuts to Wolverine hugging a young mutant girl with a fatherly smirk. Then the actor's name in frozen picture.

A body building session in the gym. Ladies looking in amazement and flirty. Muscle man drinks milk. Colosuss wears a tank top and some 70's short shorts. Helps kids out and is gentle. Then as military soldiers fire upon him in a nightime scene, he turns to steal and throws the 2 men into a bunch of trash cans in slow motion. Colossus in freeze frame with actor's name.

A beautiful red head woman. Practices gettig objects to move with her mind. Smiles at Cyclops. Is then held by Wolverine. Goes into Cerebro with the Professor. Smiles at the camera in freeze frame. Actresses name. Jean Grey.

People look in horror. Chase away! Throw rocks at it. This creature is a human being with emotions. Though demonic looking on the outside, is a great person. Teleports using cheap 70's effects in his campy but the only outfit that feels like it belongs in this 70's syndicate other than Jean's sexy superhero outfit. Nightcrawler. Freeze with him leaping into the air as the actor's name appears.

Bald man in a wheelchair. Plans a mission to everyone. Guides Wolverine and Cyclops. Smiles fatherly at the Jean Grey. Uses his mind to link with someone. In Cerebro, freeze frames, actor's name. Professor X

That was the title sequence of the first season of the X-Men which comes on at 9:00 on Friday's on NBC.

I'll come up with some episodes later.

    • ANSWER:
It wouldn't work. *Lol* (laughing a little here, shaking my head) Sorry.

The problem is: You can't really do a "That 70s Superhero Team", at least not on TV. Nobody would get it that this was an attempt at _humor_ and lame _on purpose_. The fanboys would have their pants in a bunch--seriously, majorly so, if the reactions to light-hearted scenes from the recent _Green Hornet_ film are any indication. People would just plain think you were making fun of them.

It would be similar to having Tim Kring doing an episode of "Misfits of Science" (yes, That 80s Superhero Team, literally), after years and years of _Heroes_. The fans would have kittens and puppies and _frogs_, oh my.'
      '
About the only way you could do _anything_ like this, ok....is if you started it from the point of view of _One_ character (who shall remain nameless). The Newbie. The Rookie. Start it from the point of view of waking up from strange dreams, with a pounding headache....and a buzzing.

And when it stops, something _strange_ happens. Because it turns out The Newbie is a mutant of all things, imagine that. And then go from there. Keep it focused on The Newbie--this person is your "in", the person who clues you in as to what it's like and how these _people_ are like.

Leave plenty of room for training, awkwardness and funny lines. And the more than occasional tantrum because The Newbie is still a kid. A kid who _gets away_ with it by virtue of being really charismatic, but hey...

We wouldn't know anybody like that, now would we? At least not in terms of "70s people" but maybe a "misfit of science" might do. :p *lol*

  9. QUESTION:
Can you guess what my ethnicity is?
Hello. I am writing this because i wanted to do a little experiment on how a person's mind works when he or she reads or hears someone (who is not seen) writing or speaking something. I have questioned numerous ideas about stereotypes, whether it be racial, sexual (orientation), or gender-based. And out of all these stereotypes, i have not been able to figure out why they have been created and instilled in our society.

For example, why is it when a black man is placed next to a white man, it is automatically assumed that the white man may have a better education, job, success, etc., than the black man? If you think this is too cliche of a question, then how about this? If you saw to sets of clothing, the first being a suit, a tie, and a pair of shined shoes; and the other, a T-shirt/chain/saggy jeans/and Jordans (those are shoes, for the uninformed), who would you expect to wear one of the other outfits? Some of you may say, for the sake of being open-minded and against the grain, that the black man would be the one wearing the suit and tie. But for the majority of others who follow what society has ingrained in our minds, the white man would be chosen for the suit and tie. Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, but "statistically speaking", the African-American population is seen as more susceptible to being less successful than Caucasians...therefore, they are prone to wearing less proper of clothing, gang banging, "ghetto talking", etcetera. So yes, that would contribute to the stereotype...after all, as someone somewhere once said, one bad egg does indeed spoil the rest of the basket...or something like that. But you get my point.

Anywho, if you think that this all is still too cliche, then how about taking this into consideration? You're watching an action movie and a mysterious motorcyclist is riding down a highway being pursued by helicopters and insane criminals who are also bombing random cars with nuclear weaponry, all at top speeds of 200 mph (yes, that may seem just a bit far fetched, but this is just a simple mental illustration). Now perhaps the fact that i used the words "action", "motorcyclist", and "bombs" automatically made some of you assume that this person on the motorcycle is a he, when in fact, when that person takes off the helmet, which was concealing their true identity, "he" actually ends up being a "she". This, in some obscure way, is a stereotype as well. Only it's a stereotype of a different brand. Most people don't associate action movies, and helicopters, and nuclear weaponry with female protagonists. But why not? It's certainly not an impossible scene to imagine. In fact, i'm sure there are some action movies that actually may have females in similar dangerous situations. But why is it not a common scene to witness? Is it because there truly is a shortage of women out there that have the capability to speed down a highway while being pursued by helicopters containing insane criminals, who are throwing nuclear bombs at random cars, all at top speeds of 200 mph? Or is it because society just doesn't reveal enough of those kinds of scenes to the general public?

Well, by now, i'm sure a lot of you have grown tired of reading this...i'm actually getting a wee bit tired of writing it myself. But the three examples that i discussed are all important elements to my question. Even when it's not in directly racial or gender-based circumstances, people still somehow manage to come up with a stereotype. Even in the very tone of what people hear or read. This long drawn on question itself might stimulate stereotypical inquiries such as "Why is this person writing this?" "Is she bored?" (yes i am female, and yes i am a little bored) or "Is this person some sort of equal rights liberal or something?" (idk). Some of these questions may be easy to decipher, some may not be. But one thing's for sure, the answer as to what my ethnicity is is almost impossible. almost. It's not really that difficult since it's part of the top 4 most common races in the United States, so i should get people submitting feedback with similar answers. So here it is:
I would just like to know, based on not only what i have written, but what i how i have written it as well, what would you guess my ethnicity to be?

Keep in mind, i didn't write this to show off or anything. And i also did not write this to crusade for any race/gender/etc rights either. Like i said, this is all an experiment just to see where people's minds go when they read or hear certain things from a certain person...Oh and your guesses have to include specific reasoning behind your answer based on what i've written. Whoever guesses right and gives the best reasoning behind that guess will be chosen as best answer. Hope this didn't bore

    • ANSWER:
I find your question very interesting. I like to blame the media for this. You always see in the news a "black" man raped and murdered this woman, another "black" man stole ones expensive belongings, an Arab committed an act of terror, two Latino males robbed a store at gun point.... They emphasis so much on the race and gender it's making other people believe if one man of a certain race is like this, than the whole country/race is just the same. That's what media does. They will rarely show when a Catholic man causes terrorism to another religion or to a doctor for giving a woman an abortion. They do publish it at times, but it's rare and is not as popular. I am neither Caucasian nor African-American. But I am being treated very rudely in the U.S. because of my ethnicity. I wish one day everyone will be treated equally and not based of where we come from and/or our ethnicity. There are crazy people in every race, every country and every gender. One does not make the whole population. I appreciate you asking this question and I hope a lot of people will read it an realize that they shouldn't be so naive and prejudice/ignorant. We should all accept/respect one-another for who we are and the things we do, not our roots. Let's keep our heads up and stand tall towards those with stereotypes! We can defeat them :)
To answer your question, I'd say you might be African-American ? I don't know any Caucasian who would complain about stereotypes, really. I mean if you are in a conversation with one who doesn't have stereotypes, yes he will probably tell you how annoying it is, but to start a topic like this because you are sick of the stereotypes, I wouldn't expect that from a "white" man. Yes that was a stereotype from me. Ironic, huh ?

    • ANSWER:
I think your article was bunk...cause i have never had one from anything you have listed!

  11. QUESTION:
Accidental stimulation - embarassing by true?
Ok, as a woman, we have different "special parts" than men of course. Some can come in contact with things accidentally and give a little buzz, right ladies? So I'm curious (and hope I am not alone). Tell us what works? Motorcycle, horseback riding (definitel for me), washing machine, tight jeans (two of my girlfriends swear by it), etc. What works? What takes you to the edge (climax)? Pls. be honest. Ladies only.

      She said ladies only, neanderthal.

Winter Motorcycle Riding Apparel

Winter Motorcycle Riding Gear Options

I don't care how much everybody is talking about Global Warming, cold is cold, and when you are riding in the winter, it feels even colder. Wind chill can be terrible, compound the factor of speed where the faster you ride the more the temperature falls. Using the following tips, you will be able to survive the winter on your motorcycle.
Many of you silly people like cold weather, I will never understand that. Maybe it is because I'm a skinny man and I do not have much fat to hold in the heat. I live down South for a reason, but even in the dirty dirty it gets cold now and again. When the mercury goes down and the wind picks up I'm layering every article of heavy clothing I can wear at once. If I look like the little brother from a Christmas Story when I'm done, so be it.
Hands, are the first line of defense, and Winter gloves are usually a good idea, something with Gore-Tex or Thinsulate is a plus. Just about every major motorcycle apparel manufacturer sells a winter glove, and many can be found for under with different degrees of protection and insulation from the elements. But aside from running out and buying a name brand glove, there are some other steps you can take before you shell out some dough on specialty gloves.
Take a run down to either the local grocer, hardware, or auto parts store and buy a box of disposable rubber gloves. These are great for retaining your natural body heat. And since they are form fitting, you can wear them inside your riding gloves as additional insulation. Some people may have a problem with latex, in which case sporting goods stores and outdoor outlets carry glove liners made of various materials.
Even if you wear full gauntlet gloves, while in the riding position, and when you are moving around, your sleeves can slide up and let in the wind. Try a pair of wristbands, a great cheap trick for keeping the wind out of your sleeves.
Thick shirts are a must, but too much at once cannot only be uncomfortable, but can limit movement. Thermal shirts are definitely a plus, in addition to a sweater and lined jacket. Try one of those cool max shirts as a base layer. Anything that can wick away moisture from your body will keep you that much warmer. If your jacket lets any wind through in any spots try and pin point them from the inside. The fix for this is simple... duct tape. Patch up the problems on the inside so the wind won't make its way through. A thin nylon windbreaker underneath the jacket or even your rain jacket over top can be a great addition.
Your head and face are extremely sensitive. Good full-face lids with closable vents are definitely the way to go. If you're in an area that sees a lot of snow and super low temperatures, you may want to look into snowmobile helmets for the winter. The ones that have heated visors would be a great choice. Of course, one of the most common ways to help keep your head warm, is wearing a beanie under your lid. If that is too thick for a comfy fit, try the sporting goods and ski shops for balaclava's. The ones made of nylon are usually really thin. There's always the old-fashioned bandana as well. This will at least keep the wind off your face, and your breath will keep your face warm. Keep breath mints handy though.
One more simple trick for limiting fog and retaining heat. If your helmet does not include a breath deflector, you can construct one out of duct tape. Double up the tape and bend it to fit your face. Then, tape it right to the inside of the chin bar. Just be sure you do not leave any adhesive exposed, unless you want your face waxed while riding down the street.
Your feet and knees are always in the breeze. Ski socks are a major plus. The longer they are, the better too. Insulated boots are really the smart way to go, the less wind that can get in the better. A great piece of gear I found is motocross knee and shin guards, these are similar to hockey shin guards with plastic caps, foam padding and fabric liners. The great thing about them, is that they are thin enough to wear under loose fitting pants. The plastic blocks the wind very well while the foam helps to trap in the heat. These are fairly inexpensive too, they can be purchased for under . For the rest of your lower extremities, double up on pants. Sweat pants, Track pants, thermals, etc.
Of course there is always the option of using heated riding gear. This can be expensive, but if you are going to ride in very cold climates, it is most likely a smart investment. The cheaper solution is using hand warmer packs. They're fairly cheap and some last up to 8 hours. If you are going to do some long-distance riding, I would suggest getting some. You can position them in your shoes to keep your feet warm, in your gloves to help out your hands and any place else you feel it would help.

Streetfighter Motorcycle Frame Designs

In the wonderful world of Fighterdom, you are only limited by your imagination. In the grand scheme of things, we are working with 3 main elements: the wheels, the engine and the seat. The way in which these elements are connected, to work as a whole, are practically limitless. Chassis design, suspension components, and body design are all key factors of what makes a motorcycle unique. Each part that is assembled with the machine not only adds in its function but also to it's style.

One thing that has always intrigued me was frame design. With out a frame we basically have a pile of random parts, but there's more to it then just a place to bolt it all together. This is the beginning and end of how well your bike is going to perform. You can put the best suspension, biggest brakes, and lightest wheels you can afford on your bike, but if the frame is weak and twitchy all those killer parts are for nothing. In the day and age we live in, it's hard to beat the quality and construction of the latest and greatest factory superbikes. Let's face it. They have the time and money to put all the R&D and design into them they want until you have a super light, super rigid frame. Now that doesn't mean we have to swear off the idea of designing our own. This is kind of the crAme de la crAme of building a special. A truly one off frame separates the men from the boys so to speak. For those of us with older bikes this can greatly help overall performance and handling by making the bike much more sturdy and responsive. But also on a styling note this is where you can really start laying out the look of a bike. The chopper crowd has been stretching and raking frames for decades. This was for a mater of style. But when you start building your own frame you can make it all work together. You can have the style and performance in one package.

Different Streetfighter Motorcycle Frame Designs :

Trellis Frames:

For those of you that have been around the fighter scene, you no doubt have seen the beautiful examples built by Spondon, Harris, RAU and some of the later builders such as Martek, Steelheart and PEST. The most common design of these frames is a trellis format, similar to Ducati and MV Agusta. Built from either large diameter aluminum tube or chromoly steel, they offer a very light and rigid construction, but also give the builder a range of adjustability in component placement and over all layout. Mounting points can be made to fit many different engine configurations and also allow for a range of suspension locations.

  2. QUESTION:
Good winter gear for motorcycle ride?
My boyfriend bought a motorcycle last year and this will be his first time riding his motorcycle in the winter. He rides the bike everyday to work.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions what would be some good things to get to help him keep warm during the winter season. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
The answer depends on a lot of factors. How cold? Wet? How far is the commute? How big is the budget?

I ride every day, 23*F is the coldest so far. I use Fieldsheer overpants (with removable liner), leather jacket with liner, balaclava, half-face mask, full-face helmet, Tour Master Winter Elite gloves. My bike has no fairings or windshield. The coldest part of me is my fingers, and I can go about 20-30 minutes at 60mph in those cold temperatures. If I got heated gloves or hand guards, I would be able to go longer/colder.

I bought all my gear at close-out or ebay. 0 total, including helmet.

Layering is the cheapest way to keep warm. Long underwear and thin windbreaker jacket under the leather, maybe an additional sweatshirt. I have used Under Armor, but it isn't really worth the price to me.

Park it!!! It's too cold for both man and machine, the roads are slippery, drivers will not be watching out for motorcycles, and the motorcycle will be ruined by corrosion after just one winter, even if you manage to keep it upright. There are no such things as "winter tires' for motorcycles--for good reason.

  4. QUESTION:
    Info on winter motorcycle riding?
I'm wondering if there is any added danger when riding in winter. Provided the right layers of cold weather gear are worn and there is no snow, sleet or ice can cold weather effect riding a motorcycle? Are there any mechanical malfunctions to be concerned about? Traction because of the cold?

I'm a new rider and I'm buying a bike. I'm trying to figure out if it is going to be possible to ride my bike to work in the winter. It is about a 20 minute drive and we have pretty mild winters here in New Mexico.

Thank you in advance for your answers!

    • ANSWER:
Cold can and will affect the rider's response time.
      Heavy gear will also.
As for the motorcycle, it's likely to build condensation inside the motor, which will affect your oil. More frequent changes are strongly recommended.
Cold will affect the tires. The rubber is stiffer, and has less grip (traction).
Temps near or below freezing can cause ice to form where it's not expected.

Hope I haven't scared you enough to change your mind.
      Just warnings, be careful.
One of the worst: Car drivers do not expect to see motorcycles in the winter. The ones that actually look for us in winter will be surprised. Surprised drivers can act unexpectedly.

  5. QUESTION:
    Best gear for winter motorcycling?
Looking for some women's gear for cold weather. Not rain or snow, I live in Northern California. I've got a textile jacket and pants. I know I need to get gloves with longer gauntlets and a balaclava. Will a nice thick leather jacket and pants with layers be warmer than my textiles with layers? Please any suggestions on the style and brand would be great. I don't want heated gear, but any other suggestions for winter riding gear would be great too. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
I live in Northern California too!

First of all it helps to have a fairing or at least a windshield. That's half the battle right there.

I have a leather jacket and I put a sweater on under it. The sweater traps a layer of warm air and I am very comfortable. A fabric jacket could be just as good, but if the air comes through it, then you need a windbreaker or something over the sweater, perhaps inside the jacket. (Some 'mesh' jackets for Summer riding have a removable liner. With the liner and the sweater they are quite warm!) Plus heavy Winter gloves.

In California I find it's best to do layers, especially in Winter. Riding from the East Bay to the coast, or over mountains, you go from warm to freezing, back to warm again. So if I take off for a long day-trip I carry all my layers and change as appropriate. My leather jacket, my mesh jacket, the liner for the mesh jacket, the sweater, and two pair of gloves, Summer and Winter gloves. Then I'm ready for anything.

I have some thick socks (for backpacking I think) but I don't use them because I don't really need them.

A trick I learned in cross-country skiing years ago, if your hands and feet are cold, put another layer on your torso. If your hands and feet are cold it means that your whole body is cold, you only feel it first in the hands and feet.

  6. QUESTION:
    winter motorcycle gear?
ok i ride a honda cg 114 miles a day with winter drawing nearer i want to get my winter gear sorted early this year any recomendatios for good trousers and glove that arent going to break the bank and also has anyone fitted heated grips to a 125 does it drain the battery to much my cg is kick start only so will this be a problem was thinking of maybe getting some fixed mitts for the handle bars aswell as heated grips any suggestions???

    • ANSWER:
if you CG125 is kick start only....
Then i'm pretty sure that your charging system is 6V
As such... no one makes a 6v heated grip setup.. all Commercial ones are 12 volt.

Your head light circuit is only activated when the engine is running... So if you do find a solution or if your circuit is 12 volt then wire your hot grips into the headlight circuit BEFORE the switch.
I have done this SUCCESSFULLY on a SCOOTER which didn't have sufficient battery output to run accessories, EVEN the fact that the HEADLIGHT system was AC only, the heated grips worked fine.
      The fixed MITTs Are rubbish..
you can buy heated gloves and clothing that can be energised off of a separate battery or off the vehicles charging system as long as it is 12 volt.
      HOWEVER
those offered by MAPLIN could be adapted as they run on 4.5 volts

  7. QUESTION:
Where can I find used motorcycle clothes and accessories near Portland, Oregon?
I'm looking for winter riding gear and a backrest/luggage rack for my 09 Dyna.

    • ANSWER:
for the last 5 yearsI have gotten nearly every piece of motorcycle stuff I buy from ebay. If you are careful, you can't beat the deals. I just got a brand new passenger seat for my GSXR. It's 0 at the dealer. I paid for mine with .00 for shipping. My new Icon jacket was at Ironpony Direct (through ebay). I have never gotten burned, and pretty much everything was like it was described in the auction.

  8. QUESTION:
What motorcycle and gear should I get?
So, I just got my motorcycle license, im 19 years old, 5'3" and 95 pounds. I was looking at the R6 ( YZF ) since it has a lower riding seat since im not all that tall and a beginning rider. Does anyone has any opinions as to what bike/model/company is best for beginning riding, I love speed but its more of a transportation to school and back and some cruising so I dont need anything huge and powerful but fun smaller and easier to handle. I live on the eastern shore, It doesnt get all that hot except one month a year, and its gets pretty cold in the winter, i also get cold regardless ( sucks being skinny), so i probably need gear that is more focused towards warmth, i dont ever get hot/overheated honestly. I need some opinions on what is the SAFEST gear that looks good too. I am most concerned with safety though, boots, gloves, pants, reinforced ANYTHING, ill wear it all!! HELP!!! thank you <3 also, money is not a problem

    • ANSWER:
First off, pay no heed to these paternalistic foreigners who view women as chattels and don't think a woman should ride.

That aside, start with a dual sport bike. You sound like you have your eye on a sport bike. If you do go that route, start on one with a relatively modest power output, like the 250 Ninja, or one of the several 500 and 650cc twins available.

If you start on a dual sport, you can learn to ride well much more quickly by riding on dirt, gravel, sand and mud. You can crashproof your bike with the many accessories available, so that the inevitable biffs and drops of the learning process do not put your bike out of service. You can practice your skills off-road, away from the distractions and hazards of traffic, yet you can easily hone your roadcraft by riding on the street.

But perhaps the best part of riding a dual sport is the access it gives you to out-of-the-way places that you cannot reach on a street bike. A dual sport bike is not just the best, quickest and safest way to learn to ride, it is the most fun.

  9. QUESTION:
What gear should i get to ride my motorcycle in cold/rainy weather?
This last winter here in Iowa was bad enough to convince me to sell my Fwd '07 Cobalt to my brother, and hopefully purchase either an Awd Subaru or 4x4 pickup next fall, but in the mean time, rely on driving my '02 Sportster 1200 from now until next fall, with only my 11mpg 2wd dodge pickup to back me up on really nasty days.

I don't have a windshield on my bike, and usually wear a 3/4 helmet with sunglasses, along with riding boots and a thick leather jacket (i mean beef jerky consistency), but below about 70 degrees it gets pretty cold at 70 mph. I don't like the look of a windshield on sportsters, but this bike is perfect for me, completes me, so i'm not trading it for a dresser.

What all items would i need to comfortably ride in 40 degree weather, including random rainstorms? When driving to work for a 12 hour shift, the weather has plenty of time to become unpredictable, i've found.

I'm 5'11", 185lbs, by the way. I've had my harley for 3 years now, and paid it off!
I'm not too concerned about my appearance, in fact a big part of what i enjoy about the persona and uniqueness of being a motorcycle rider, is not caring a single bit what people think of me or my appearance. I drive my harley wearing an old "biker" type jacket, to the junior high where i coach an after school program, and just love the looks that i get from the soccer moms (both shocked and intrigued). So i suppose a snowmobiling jacket wouldn't be unreasonable, my uncle has plenty of spares (lives in a town with an Arctic Cat factory).

    • ANSWER:
I'm another canuck here, and I ride my sporty any time there aren't snowbanks or ice to contend with, temperature worries are for wussies... (though at -25C or colder, the bike usually won't start)
I do have a windshield though, always said i wouldn't have one, that they were ugly, but my last bike (Kawasaki) had one, and now i wouldn't be without. Maybe a quick detach will suit you.
I have a modular full face helmet with vents, you have to have vents to prevent fogging in cold weather, i wear a toque under it, and tie a bandanna around my neck over my mouth, but not my nose - tucked into my coat to cut the wind from my skin.
Good leathers cut wind and dress in layers under them. My coat is a longer coat so that i don't have a gap between my coat and chaps. Gauntlet style gloves make a big difference too so you don't get wind up your sleeves..
If you have an engine guard, there are also some leathers you can put on them that keep cold air off your feet and deflect engine heat towards them.
Happy riding, and not that there should be much more cold to contend with anyways, i'm down to my beanie now

  10. QUESTION:
Why are motorcycles usually cheaper around fall/winter? Bad to ride or?
I know it sounds dumb, yeah why are you gonna ride a motorcycle in the cold but from my point of view, i live in florida, i would never wanna ride in summer with all my protective gear, are you kidding me 90 degrees outside plus the jacket,etc...

Winters in florida dont get too much below 50 degrees but in general do people not like riding as much in winter than in summer (not just in florida)?

what are your thoughts, thanks. Oh and are they cheaper in fall/winter ?Ive heard that.....

    • ANSWER:
Well, to be honest in Florida its never bad to ride because it never really gets icy on the roads there and the temperatures are usually decent all the time. Rain would be the only negative factor about riding there. In my opinion if you are looking to get a ride i would purchase it in the winter somewhere where it snows because people do not usually ride in snowy places because its dangerous and places that sell them where it snows tend to lower there prices due to the fact that its not really an interest in the winter there. Fall the prices may drop little. Harley's and Choppers are a lot more comfortable for all year round riding. The high performance street bikes are usually for spring and summer and for people that own a vehicle like a car or bigger. As far as I'm concerned all u need is a helmet and thick pants for riding. On sketchy days though classic leather jackets are nice. Well whatever u end up doing have fun and all.

  11. QUESTION:
Is it possible to ride a bike in Edinburgh/Glasgow climate-wise?
Next year im planning to travel abroad, Edinburgh or Glasgow to be precise, in order to study.
I'd like to buy a new motorcycle (Kawasaki Ninja 250r) but i am really concerned about the climate.

Will i be able to ride it during the whole year, or in Autumn-Winter it's impossible to ride one because of the cold, even with full riding gear on?

    • ANSWER:
You'll need a full motorcycle license if you ride anything bigger than 50cc. People tend to put their motorcycles into hibernation from November to March. Dark, wet, slippery roads don't mix with 2 wheels.

      Q. What do you call a Scottish motorcyclist in winter?
      A. An organ donor.

  12. QUESTION:
I've made the commitment to switch to a motorcycle year round, need some help with gear!?
I've made the decision to switch to a bike year round. Seeing as it's late September, people are already calling me "stupid," and "saying "what a horrible idea," and so on so forth. Well, I've sold my old car, and bought a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja, kept in great shape by a friend of mine, with only 4,500 miles. I would really like some advice on some year round gear. I have already bought the airforce jacket, by Rev-It, which came highly rated, via online, and the people at Colemans (of course.) I already shelled out for the spine protector insert, but I'm wondering what I should consider for winter. Pants? What helmets do you suggest? I'm borrowing one from a friend, and its a KBC, but the visor frequently fogs up, which is annoying. I love to ride, and I'm ready to be a serious biker, (even though coming home from work today in the rain scared the living **** outta' me!) Please help me make some decisions on gear, and quality gear, preferably gear that's not seasonal, and I can use year round! Also, any tips on weather condition riding, experience, etc. is more than welcome! Thanks in advance!
I guess I should add that I live in Washington D.C so you know what kind of weather I'll be dealing with. Keep in mind I'm not planning on riding in the snow or ice, (but also, does anybody here ever ride in snow?)

    • ANSWER:
Check out heated clothing such as Gerbing. If you use it, make sure the bike can support it. I haven't bought myself any yet, but they get rave reviews. Visors fog, you may want goggles. A scarf is one of the absolute best things to own, rider or not. Helmet, your choice. I wear the same HJC I usually wear. It does get below freezing in DC, if I remember right. You may want to re-think this choice. Ice forms suddenly in the strangest places. Riding means dealing with the unexpected, always has. Gear that's not seasonal? Don't know of anything that will be good for a 70 degree swing. I'm not too positive on your choice for a winter ride, I'd rather not have a high-rev motor in bad conditions.
Yes, I ride in the snow. I live in NH.
To be honest, I don't do it properly. I should set up my bike better.
If you truly do want to do this, check out advrider.com
Much good info you could use, riding in snow, studded tires....

      One thing you must remember:
      NO ONE EXPECTS A MOTORCYCLE IN WINTER! ! ! ! !

      Good luck.

  13. QUESTION:
2 questions for new motorcycle rider?
I have a 600cc Katana. I have only riden for the summer, but I would like to continue to ride in the winter.

My first question... what is the best leg gear to wear in cold weather? Are chaps appropriate for a sports bike? Are there alternatives (because I work in an office environment that requires kakis)?

Second question. Sometimes when I down shift while applying my back brakes, I believe that my back tire skids for a split second. Is this normal?

    • ANSWER:
First one- get some waterproof overpants, preferably with insulation, that your khakis will fit under. They are a bit "puffy" at best, but when it's in the low 30's you won't care. Besides, your jacket needs insulation, your neck needs protection, and your gloves need to be thick, so at least you'll match. My cut-off is about 20 degrees. At that point, nothing I have can keep me from being in pain by the time I arrive, and that just sucks!

For the second one, stop using your rear brake so much until you learn to blip the throttle on downshifts. Most good riders use very little back brake (if at all) and let the front brake and downshift slow them properly. If you hammer a downshift with the rear brake on in a corner (newbs still ride like it's a car, but you must brake BEFORE the corner on a bike), you'll run a good chance of highsiding yourself across the road.

Racers set up their rear brakes so that it's IMPOSSIBLE to lock the rear wheel. Whatever it takes- wax on the disc, grooved brake pads, lever adjustment- the rear brake isn't that effective anyway. The only place I use it is riding 2-up when I have extra weight on the rear of the bike and need a little extra braking, or during panic stops when my butt goes all the way off the back and both brakes are mashed within a hair from locking up.

Work on SMOOOOOOTH downshifts and using your front brake most of the time. Don't just let the clutch out fast, let it out slowly as if each downshift was like taking off from a light in 1st gear.

  14. QUESTION:
    Heated Motorcycle Gloves for Winter.?
This question is for all those who have used any heated gear, from firstgear to Technic, etc. I just bought the firstgear carbon heated gloves (2009), as my hands get very cold when I ride. When I called up the company, they told me that it came with the heating troller (which is needed to operate any of their heating gear.) Well, somebody goofed, and all the other heated gear thats not technic does come with the troller. So the question is, do I drop another on the troller, or should I try going with another brand?

My initial decision was based off of the reviews for tourmasters heated gloves, in which I heard things like "the finger tips don't heat up," or "the thumbs get no heat whatsoever." Where as, Technic's gloves had some reviews like "These gloves are so nice, half the time you don't need to even use the heating function."

Those of you with a little more experience with any brands of heated gear, please chime in and let me know your thoughts, get the troller, or make an exchange?!

    • ANSWER:
I would return the gloves and contact the folks at Gerbing.
I use the Classic gloves, jacket liner, and the Union Ridge pants.
      I stay warm.
Pricey, but worth every penny when the temps are 35 degrees and I am warm.
My back seater has the same gear and never complained at the cost. Again, being warm in cold weather is priceless and has added several months to my riding season.
      Good Luck

  15. QUESTION:
    Questions concerning Motorcycles!?
How is riding motorcycles during winter?
How is it during summer? (do the leather and protective clothes heat you up)
Does the helmet annoy you or is it ok?
    How is it during rain?
Are you a bit scared on highways?
Do you like protective gear or is it annoying?
Chopper, naked bike, cruiser, motocross, speed bike?? what do you prefer and why??
    Personal experiences? accidents??

I'm asking because i love motorcycles and i just want to prepare myself a bit more!

    • ANSWER:
Riding durring the winter is cold to dangerous without the right gear. With the right gear, one can ride in comfort (hands and toes tend to get a little cold, but not uncomfortably so) in temps down to 0 F and/or so long as the roads aren't iced over. Heck, sometimes I do ride on snow-covered roads.

Summers are fine in full gear as long as you're moving and it gets hot when stopped.

As for the helmet, it's MUCH worse to ride without one. You get sunburn, pelted with bugs, rocks (from other vehicles), rain and everything else out there. The helmet provides a comfortable bubble that you don't even notice (assuming it's sized Correctly, and you find one that fits your head the best).

When raining, it's humid. With the right gear (again), you can go all day and come out the other side more or less dry. My hands are normally wet (but I don't use rain gloves), and the collar of my shirt from water running down my neck.

I'm a bit scared all the time. But it's the healthy fear that makes me alert and has kept me alive for 20+ years of riding. Highways are one of the Safest places to ride, FAR more so than "in town". It's not the speed, it's the Other drivers doing stupid things like turning left in front of you.

I absolutely will not get on a motorcycle without riding boots, pants, jacket (or, I wear a 1-piece suit), gloves, ear plugs (yes, they are protective gear) and helmet. The gear I wear cost 00 when new, but most of it is over 10 years old too (only the helmet is new). I have another ~00 in gear for different riding (race leathers and boots, dual-sport pants, jacket and boots, gloves, helmets,etc..) ~ for contrast, the 2 bikes in my garage cost me 00 TOGETHER. I have more money in gear than I do in bikes. That's because the bikes can be Easily replaced, my skin... not quite so easy, and Certainly not as cheaply. Ditto broken bones (protective gear is cheaper than any hospital visit ~ my last broken leg came to ,000 ~ my wifes torn ACL ended up at 6,000).

I'ma motorcyclist, if a bike has 2 wheels, I'll take a ride on it. That said, I'm 6'4" and find cruisers Terribly cramped/uncomfortable. I still ride them (I'm a mechanic, kinda have to), but they aren't my preference strictly from a comfort standpoint.

Personal experience? Don't learn like me. I didn't take any rider training and started out on an 1100cc bike. While I survived, I never did learn to RIDE. The bike controlled me, I just hung on for the ride. If I knew then what I know now, I would have been in the MSF class before touching a bike, and then putting my backside on one of the 250 bikes out there. I have an EX250 NOW (and have for 7 years), and sure wish I would have learned of it earlier. As for accidents, I've had plenty. New rider mistakes, road racing crashes, one always seems to be on the ground when riding off-road and I've been hit by cars 4 times. Once bad enough to require surgery (on my left wrist), the same incident also separated my shoulder so it was in a sling for a month. Those are the only injuries, thanks 100% to good riding gear.

There's a bunch of new-rider FAQs over in the Ninja 250 WIKI. You should read through to get more info:

  16. QUESTION:
    Buying a first motorcycle?
I plan on buying my first motorcycle in the next 2 months before this winter weather starts showing up. I don't plan on riding it over the winter but just didn't know if anyone had any tips on buying a first used bike. I also was wondering about buying a helmet. I am getting one, I just know its a really important part of it, more important than the actually bike. But idk what i should do, get a used one, go to a helmet store? and should i get gear? like boots or jackets with padding? Thanks i just want to be safe, if anyone has a tip or two i would really appreatiate it.
Well i plan on buying a bike this fall just for cost reasons. Im a junior in high school, working my ass off for a bike and maintaining my truck. I want to get the bike now, so that next march, when i take the riders education, i can have a bike to ride around with my motorcycle permit. so i have no experiance and have never been out of a driveway with a bike. so basically, i could use all the help i need, haha. its just that i havent had the best record with bikes in the family, and want to be able to enjoy it, but while at the same time being safe. because i know im young, but im not stupid. and i know there are a lot of experianced riders out there, so please, whatever you got to say; ill listen.
Oh, and some of the bikes i have been looking at have been 250's. Mostly honda cbr's. the rr's and f3's. but thats just what ive seen, i have no idea whats out there.
anyone know a good website to buy gear?

    • ANSWER:
You've asked a lot of questions there, and I could talk your ear off for a few days over all of this. I'm not sure if you've got your license yet and/or experience yet. generally most people recommend starting with something around the 250cc range. Examples include Honda rebel, Suzuki GZ250 and TU250x, and my favorite, Kawasaki Ninja 250.

Check the bike for damage; scrapes, dents, rust, gaping wounds, etc... use all the controls; throttles, both brakes, clutch, choke if it has one. If something feels too heavy, it should be replaced or oiled. The bike shouldn't smoke once warmed up, a little is normal on some models when cold. Check all around the motor for fluid leaks. Check chain tension, if its too loose, it may need replacing.

While there's nothing wrong with buying gear on the interwebs, its good to try it on at a store. I strongly recommend wearing a full face helmet. I wear HJC right now, My girlfriend has a Z1R, and a Nolan. Don't buy a helmet without trying it on. Sizes vary greatly and different brands and models fit very differently.

I could go on and on, I'll leave some links for you to go over.

  17. QUESTION:
    Good Motorcycle Jacket For Me?
Just got my first bike and before riding, I definitely wanna have my gear to protect myself.

I have taken the class and am ready to go. I'm going to go to my motorcycle dealer and look at the jackets, helmets and gloves but I was just wondering what's a good brand of jacket and which one to go with that provides good benefits and all? Also, a good helmet and any info you can provide.

And if it matters, I live in Phoenix, Arizona where the summer weather is about 110 and the winter time, it is no lower than 65 really. And I'm 19, 6 feet tall, and weigh 150 pounds.

Thank you for your advice. Look forward to joining the motorcycle world!

    • ANSWER:
Whether you end up buying online or in a store, I recommend going to a local bike shop and trying some on. That will help you more than any website. The general rule of "you get what you pay for" may be your best guide here. A cheap jacket will protect you just as well as an expensive one given the same armor, it just may not be made as well so it's normal life may be shorter. The people at a bike shop are more than willing to give you advice whether you buy anything or not, but I also suggest you buy something there even if it's cheap to foster some good will.

  18. QUESTION:
    Motorcycle tire question !!?
I am looking for input on your expeience and knowledge or even some helpful websites about motorcycle tires. What is the differece in the feel and handling of a regular width back tire compared to a fat back tire? How about the preferred brand of tire or cheap versus expensive? If it depends on the bike you have and the weight of the rider then I ride a Honda shadow vtx600. Yes it is small I know, but so am I. I am a 92lb female and have only begun riding a lot in the last 4 months. I do live in a warmer state but have recently heard about the heated gear you can wear and plug into you cigarrette lighter looking thingy. I think I will buy some for this winter.

    • ANSWER:
A fat back tire feels slower in the corners, affects handling.
For a brand name tire, I run Dunlops. Made in US or Japan, they are as close to identical as if they were made in the same plant. For an inexpensive tire, I use Cheng-Shin. Made in Taiwan, the cost is low, the grip is good and the wear is good too. These are not recommendations, just what I run. There are many brands. Within each brand you will find different tires/compounds for different purposes. The more weight you put on a tire, the faster it will wear. As you are light, and your bike isn't a heavyweight, tires should last you a while.

  19. QUESTION:
    Motorcycle engine popping noise?
I ride a 2002 Buell Blast. Whenever I provide too much throttle for the gear that I am in, the engine makes a fairly loud popping sound (but not as loud as a backfire). If I do not slow down or shift gears, the engine will give several pops in succession. Sometimes, the engine will cut off or will be stubborn to start. Of course, it is not good for the motorcycle to give too much gas for the gear, but it should not pop like that. It should just rev up, shouldn't it? What might be wrong with my bike?

    Other details:
It wasn't ridden hardly at all over the winter. I have charged the battery. The gas tank is full. The bike has under 5,000 miles.

    • ANSWER:
Are you sure you are not going up against the rev-limiter? When you turn too many RPMs the bike will automaticly shut it self down to keep from blowing up.

  20. QUESTION:
Getting Colder Outside... Buying A Yamaha Jacket?
Hey seeing as how it's becoming winter time and starting to get colder at night, I am looking at finding a new jacket. I always wanted an r6 and love the way Yamahas are built.

I googled it and all that came up were jackets you wear when riding a motorcycle. Thanks

  21. QUESTION:
Motorcycle died at the stop sign. Need advise on tuning?
    Hey, all.

Ok, Basics first. I am driving q 1982 Yamaha Virago 750. Owned it about two years. Recently did a top down rebuild of the engine with brand new gaskets, piston rings, transmission 1st gear, plugs, air filter, etc. After re assembly and some tuning it fired up great. I drove it around the block and promptly prepped it for winter storage. That was late November.

Last week, I tried to take advantage of the 24 hours of 60 degree weather we had here in Chicago. Bike had been sitting idle for a few months due to the winter. With a little starter fluid, she fired right up and idled like a champ for a good ten minutes before I took off for my ride. I made it three blocks and the old bugger stalled and died on me at the stop sign. Then the battery went and she wouldn't start up for all the starter fluid in the world.

The oil light was also on, despite a "full" reading at the window. I always forget, should it be read when cold, or warm? Running or stopped?

It seems to be running very lean. Even during the warmer months, the engine barely powers up more than an idle no matter how far I open the throttle. It has always been like this, especially after starting up cold. When she warms up the acceleration is ok, but I still need to figure out how to get more fuel into my mixture.

I've tweaked the carbs a number of times to try and get more fuel to the Venturis and add power. Nothing seems to work. Has anyone had any luck getting their carbs balanced and running right? Can you tell me step by step, what to do. (please don't just say, "check the carbs", I mean give me instructions)

To eliminate some of your initial suggestions:

Yes I have the manual. It does not explain complex repairs like balancing fuel mixture. It says call a mechanic. Screw that.

Yes I've cleaned the carbs, twice.

Yes I have tried adjusting the floats. Twice.

Yes I have dismantled the carbs and checked for dirt and damaged parts - shes clean as a whistle and everything shines like new.

    Yes I winterized it properly.

Yes I treated the gasoline and changed the oil.

Appreciate any helpful thoughts. Stay warm!

The fuel filter is a good suggestion. One of the first things I check during trouble shooting is the flow of fuel from the petcocks to the carbs. There is a steady and pletiful flow of fuel from both fuel lines.

The air filter is also clean and nearly brand new.

So, by process of elimination, the problem must therefor be the carbs.

    • ANSWER:
One thing you might wish to check is the fuel filter screen inside the gas tank.

  22. QUESTION:
    Need motorcycle help. completly stumped.?
I have a yamaha seca 550. The carbs are fine they have been tuned cleaned and everything. For some reason the bike wont start up. I thought there was a fuel problem at first because there was a leak, but now that is fixed. Alot of times when I first go to start it, It will run in idol on nuetral but when i shift out into first it wants to die and from then on it just wont start. I have no idea where to go from here. The engine seems to be fine and the battery is good. The engine sounds like it wants to start but it just wont fire. and sometimes when shifting gears it will die. Any help would be appreciated I would like to ride this bike before winter! HELP PLEASE! soo frusterated!
    oh and its a 1981.

    • ANSWER:
Carberation always gets blamed for these issues when in fact, it's usually ignition. If it were me, and I knew my carbs were good and my choke was open, I would test the coil as they break down under a load. Ive had the same exact problem happen to me more than once on numerous makes/models of bikes. Idles just fine, go to shift and give the bike some power and it bogs down and dies, can't start it back up. You can also try new plugs, they could be fuel / oil fouled in which they will break down under pressure as well. I don't think it's plug wires, if they were bad, they would only work at higher rpm's.

  23. QUESTION:
Can I get your opinion of this? Israeli soldiers admit war crimes?
Ok, so a few days ago I read this article, and it made my view of Israel worse. So was everything I saw on the news real? Well, what do you think of these witnesses?

Here are a few passages from the article:

    Israeli soldiers admit war crimes

"JERUSALEM — Israeli combat soldiers have acknowledged that they forced Palestinian civilians to serve as human shields, needlessly killed unarmed Gazans and improperly used white phosphorus shells to burn down buildings as part of Israel's three-week military offensive in the Gaza Strip last winter.

In filmed testimony and written statements released Wednesday, more than two dozen soldiers told an Israeli army veterans' group that military commanders led the fighters into what one described as a "moral Twilight Zone" where almost every Palestinian was seen as a threat.

Soldiers described incidents in which Israeli forces killed an unarmed Palestinian carrying a white cloth, an elderly woman carrying a sack, a Gazan riding a motorcycle, and an elderly man with a flashlight, said Breaking the Silence, a group formed by army reservists in 2004.

"In urban warfare, everyone is your enemy," said one soldier. "No innocents."

"Two soldiers from the Givati brigade who served in Zeitoun told the story of shooting an unarmed civilian without warning him.

The elderly man was walking with a flashlight toward a building where Israeli forces were taking cover.

The Israeli officer in the house repeatedly ignored requests from other soldiers to fire warning shots as the man approached, the soldiers said. Instead, when he got within 20 yards of the soldiers, the commander ordered snipers to kill the man.

The soldiers later confirmed that the man was unarmed."

"Breaking the Silence identified other specific instances in which Israeli forces carried out highly questionable practices.

According to the soldiers, the Israeli military fired white phosphorus mortars and artillery shells to set suspicious buildings ablaze and destroyed scores of Palestinian homes for questionable reasons. The white phosphorus supplied by the U.S. is supposed to be used to illuminate targets or provide smoke cover for advancing troops.

"Phosphorus was used as an igniter, simply making it all go up in flames," one soldier said."

"A second soldier-....told Breaking the Silence that at least one officer fired unauthorized white phosphorus mortars because it was "cool.""

""In practical terms, this meant taking a house that is not implicated in any way, that its single sin is the fact that it is situated on top of a hill in the Gaza Strip ," said one soldier."

"In the Ezbt Abd Rabbo neighborhood, Israeli combatants said they forced Palestinians to search homes for militants and enter buildings ahead of soldiers in direct violation of an Israeli Supreme Court ruling that bars fighters from using civilians as human shields."

"One Palestinian, Castro Abed Rabbo, said Israeli soldiers ordered him to enter buildings to search for militants and booby traps before they sent in a specially trained dog with high-tech detection gear.

Two other Palestinian men told McClatchy that Israeli soldiers used them as human shields by forcing them to kneel in a field during a firefight as they exchanged fire with Gaza fighters.

"I was down on my knees and they fanned out in a 'V' behind me," Sami Rashid Mohammed, a Fatah-leaning former Palestinian Authority police officer, said in an unpublished interview in February. "It wasn't more than 10 or 15 minutes of shooting, but it was so scary."

One of the Israeli soldiers interviewed described the offensive was necessary.

"We did what we had to do," he said. "The actual doing was a bit thoughtless. We were allowed to do anything we wanted. Who's to tell us not to?""

""He said something along the line of 'Don't let morality become an issue; that will come later,'" the soldier said. "He had this strange language: 'Leave the nightmares and horrors that will come up for later — now just shoot.'"

"You felt like a child playing around with a magnifying glass, burning up ants," another Israeli soldier said. "A 20-year-old kid should not be doing such things to people. . . . the guys were running a 'Wild West' scene: draw, cock, kill.""

Here, I copied and pasted parts of the whole article, please read it and tell me what you think?
If this is how the IDF soldiers act, then by all means, the Palestinians have the right to resist this oppression.

  24. QUESTION:
how can I make this terrain passable on my gn250?
Its a medium size very steep hill with gravel and mud. Its winter here so its wet. I rode up it the other day and the bike slid out. To the point of about a second away from offing over. Then going down the same thing happened. I took a good line and stayed away from bumps and pot holes. I used my back brake and had her in first gear. I am a motorcycle postie so am used to going over rough terrain on my work farm/trail bike but my bike is a road bike with standard tyres. Its the sort of situation where one out of five times the bike will slide right out and drop. Is there any way i can make this terrain more passable. I am thinking of planks laid into the mud but i think that would be just as slippery. I thought about digging a trail so its smooth but still the slippery. Is there any way to make a small part of the hill passable cos i may want to live there and i need to get my bike up and down? I can't modify my bike so it will have to be the terrain that gets modifyed.
hmm lets see why am i riding a street bike on a wet muddy road? ..ummm becos i have a life and life is not always paved.

    • ANSWER:
It might be easier to put knobbly tires on the bike.

  25. QUESTION:
What's a good Sport Bike to start off with?
Please read, I have been riding bikes for a long time now, dirt bike since 12, and my first motorcycle at 16 which was a 1981 Honda CB200 (not a sport bike) and I have been riding it ever since, all 4 seasons a year, but it only tops out at 60mph with 4 gears under constant maintenance. I just broke up with the love of my life, so now this winter I'm saving up for a new love, a Sport Bike, but I'm worried that my experience on a 200cc 2-cylinder old motorcycle isn't enough to jump into a 600cc sport bike.

Again, I'm very experienced on 2 wheels and ride very safely, I'd like to travel across country someday on a bike and I'm not really looking for good looks at the moment, just want to get the feel for a Sport Bike.
Oh, I'm 21 right now, not sure if I mentioned that or not, and not exactly 'built' in the muscles.

Winter Motorcycle Riding Gloves

Dangerous Motorcycle Riding Conditions

Riding a motorcycle is hard enough as it is because of the fact that you are only on two wheels. Riding a motorcycle becomes even more difficult when you have to deal with adverse riding conditions. Here are some of the more difficult types of conditions that you might have to face, as well as some tips on how to handle your motorcycle in those situations.

Rain

One of the more common types of weather conditions that you might have to face when riding your motorcycle is rain, which can make your experience much less enjoyable. One thing that you should know about riding when it is raining is the fact that you have much less traction when you are riding on roadways that are covered with water. First of all you have a limited number of tires to make contact with the road. Second, the vehicle you are riding weighs much less than the average car or truck, so there is less pressure on the tires to make contact with the road.

If you want to remain safe while riding your motorcycle in the rain, there are a few things that you should do. First of all, you should reduce your speed. This will give you more traction because your tires will be able to make more contact with the road. Second, you should try and avoid standing water on roadways as much as possible. Standing water can cause hydroplaning which can cause you to lose control of your motorcycle. Hydroplaning occurs when you combine too much speed with a flat water covered surface. Your tires essentially slide across the roadway and you can lose all traction. Reducing your speed is an effective way to eliminate the risk of hydroplaning.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
Is it possible to ride a motorcycle in winter?
Just what it says. If you dress warm, have warm gloves, drive carefully etc. Is it possible to keep riding your motorcycle even in the winter? Have any of you pulled it off?

    • ANSWER:
Riding in winter is more a matter of road conditions than ambient temperature.

I will ride if the roads are clear no matter what the outside temperature.

And I ride my dirtbike in the snow every winter --- but I'm doubting you were referring to that type of riding.

      Good Luck

  3. QUESTION:
I am looking for motorcycle gloves?
My dad rides a bike and he needs new gloves for the winter. I am looking for ones that are water proof and are going to keep his hands warm. I dont care about the cost. I was looking for heated ones but he wouldnt want to hook them up to his bike. If you have a pair that you like or know that are good please let me know. I would really apprecite it. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
Check ebay or dennis kirk..Ebay will prolly have some dennis kirk will have new ones to Good luck and ride on.

  5. QUESTION:
    winter motorcycle gear?
ok i ride a honda cg 114 miles a day with winter drawing nearer i want to get my winter gear sorted early this year any recomendatios for good trousers and glove that arent going to break the bank and also has anyone fitted heated grips to a 125 does it drain the battery to much my cg is kick start only so will this be a problem was thinking of maybe getting some fixed mitts for the handle bars aswell as heated grips any suggestions???

    • ANSWER:
if you CG125 is kick start only....

  8. QUESTION:
    refund/exchange question?
Hi, i bought a pair of motorcycle gloves about 4-5 months ago.

The left hand fit good but on the right hand the index and middle fingers are about 1cm longer.

It is the glove not my fingers as i have measured each glove and they are different. Both are marked "S"

i know 4-5 months is along time but i bought them in the winter when i wasn't riding the bike but now the weathers better ive had chance to use them.

it is a bit of a pain as the extra cm of glove is getting in the way of grabbing the brake leaver!!

my question is will i be able to swap them for a pair of the same size?
these are £160 gloves, so a good fit ist to be expected.

    yes still have receipt

  9. QUESTION:
Any ideas for ways to reduce our oil consumption???
I bought and now ride, as often as possible, a motorcycle that gets 60 to 70 mpg. I've also kept my house between 55 and 60 degrees this past winter, wearing long underwear, sweaters, and gloves to keep comfortable. I'd really appreciate any other suggestions. It's not that I can't personally AFFORD to live differently, but that I am REBELLING against the high cost of gas and heating oil while the BIG OIL companies are reaping RECORD profits. I just wish more people would be willing to do their part to "stick it to" them! I want to SPURN them and tell them to take their high priced oil and SHOVE IT!!! Anybody else out there "with me" on this? If so, please let me know and, if you have any suggestions, I am all ears!

    • ANSWER:
First we could run all cars made after this year on hydrogen. That should make a huge difference for a lot of reasons.

That horrible polluting food cost raising corn alchohol sure isn't the answer.
